Back from Alabama, and back to work. All I had to do last week was teach, but this week, choir starts back on Wednesday and I start back playing for voice lessons at UofL on Friday. I need to motivate myself to practice and do something other than play Civilization III. I have cleaned up a lot of the house. (We left it a mess, and when we came back we just added all the Christmas stuff and luggage on top of the mess we had left and I didn't really have a chance to start tackling it until last Friday.)
I've had some hard decisions to make regarding work recently. We planned to go down to AL Feb. 20, possibly again at the end of March/beginning of April on the tail end of our Spring Break trip, and then not again until May for Lauren's graduation. Well, I looked ahead at my calendar and the IUS Concert Choir's Spring Concert is the Sunday after our Spring Break trip, so I will have to do some careful planning there since she considers the 2 weekday rehearsals before a concert dress rehearsals. At any rate, I will definitely have to be back here for the official dress rehearsal on that Saturday, which really means being back on Friday. I think I will get away with this trip, though, because I am going to a professional conference, and visiting family is the bonus. :) I'm not just taking a trip for the hell of it. Then, I usually play for a bunch of kiddos in their local and state solo & ensemble competitions. It brings in a lot of extra money that is nice to have, but is not necessary for us to live, if that makes sense. I had to choose to not do it this year b/c the state level is Feb. 21, and it would be too long in between trips to cancel the Feb. trip down.
I have to go dispute my paycheck with IUS as well; I was supposed to get a raise, and the check I got was for the pre-raise amount. Arg.
I was going to try to go to VA this weekend, but I have to teach this Friday from 2:00P-7:30P, and 3 of the lessons are supposed to be new. So I don't see any way I can reschedule that. Yet another hard work decision.
I also have some rescheduling to do of regular lesson times; I hate it when they don't work out...it's so annoying to change midsemester. At least we're working it out now at the beginning of a new semester.
I just feel like I have a lot up in the air right now, and I don't like that feeling.
