So tonight is a lazy night. L.B. and I are both on the fouton he is napping and I am watching a Christmas Movie. I love holiday time. To me its the best time of the year.
I have been on a sewing bing lately. I made new stockings for the family, a new tablecloth, runner, and placemats for my mom. Now I'm working on pet beds for the animals in my life. I'm not exactly efficent with everything (i don't know enough), but I enjoy it.
Derek started student teaching on Monday. I don't know how he likes it yet. Apparently, its not giving him enough time to play his horn. I still say he should have been a music ed major. But, the new schedule is hard to get use to.
I have had three good rehearsals in three days. It the longest streak so far. The jr high kids are doing very well. I gave them a new challenge today. We are working on learning all their scales. Once a week they will get into groups of three to four and they choose a scale and if every member of the group can play a scale they will earn a link on the paper chain. Once the paper chain reaches a certain length they will get pizza party. Hopefully peer pressure will help them to learn their scales. The kids liked the challenge so it will be interesting to see how well they do.
Had a good Thanksgiving. Lots of back and forth between Princeton and the QC. We visited all of his family and mine. We also moved his mom. She is now in a house she likes. Which means she should be happier and that might transfer over to her relationship with Derek. Cross your fingers!
I reveived a phone call from my sister saying that one of the students at her school got in a car accident on the way to shcool and died in the hospital. They hydroplaned. They were not speeding and they wore their seatbelts. Its a shame. I guess it was just their time.
Midwest is coming up and that means Chicago at Christmas time. Usually the family goes to lunch one day at the Walnut Room in Fields. But, since Macy's are assholes and changed the name of the Field on State we are boycotting and not going this year. Its just not the same. My grandma took my mom to the Walnut Room when she was little and then my mom took us. Now Macy's screwed it up. Stupid stupid people. There are just some historical landmarks you don't mess with. Jerks.
Oh well enough of standing the soap box. I hope everyone has a great holiday season!
