Figured it was time for an update ... haven't been here much this week, so apologies to anyone I should have responded to but I just read a weeks worth of posts and figure any comment I could make now is a bit out of date :-(
So what have we been up to .... not much as this house was almost under plague quarantine !
Last weekend I came down with a cold; headache, sore throat and a slight temp but nothing to get excited about. Soldiered on at work until Tuesday luncthtime, by which point I had lost the will to live, told the boss I was taking the afternoon off and came home and spent the afternoon in the bath. Felt worse the next morning so phoned boss (he was not in the least surprised to hear from me) and went back to bed. Felt so bad Wednesday that when I emailed (lost voice) boss Thursday morning I thought I would be off the rest of the week. But, pottered about most of the day doing stuff with no ill effects so went into work Friday. By Friday afternoon, I had my "bounce" back.
It is hard to explain ... I still have symptoms of an infection, my sinuses are full of pleasant yellow goo which means I still have a headache; and I am coughing up green gunk ... but I don't feel "unwell", the tired grotty feeling that goes with cold/flu viruses has passed. Once I get up and get started I feel fine, but I sound bloody awful! I have lost my voice almost entirely and I am barking like a walrus. So I expect to have an argument with the boss tomorrow when I go into work.
F thinks I should go to the doctor tomorrow, but I'll probably leave it until Thursday. I have a couple of days off anyway (planning a long weekend at Mum's) and it will be a week since I lost my voice. I don't expect that they will do anything about the infection until it has been resident for at least a week.
Anyone got any great cures for lost voices? I am currently treating it with Ibuprofen and hot squash ... and trying not to talk with is easier said than done around here!
