Fabu's subject line was "anything to get me writing"

and Catt and I were talking this weekend about how I've stalled out, though that may be because what I'm working on right now is kind of epic in length, so I am putting words down, but I'm not posting anything*, so it feels like I'm not writing. So let's do something short. I haven't written a kiss in a while. (For newcomers to this journal, when I ( Read more... )

There are people who considered DJs as mechanics or robots, Sam thought to herself, and for some, it might be true. She pulled the middle section of Eruption, bracketing the tapping with the pure drum from Mama, sliding sound over sound the way people moved on a dance floor, sometimes focused on the one they came with, sometimes floating through, looking for someone to make them come.

Most people wouldn’t recognize the component parts but would just get hit with a sensory memory of whatever they remembered from the eighties, Don Johnson’s stubble or lime green socks. She considered adding the final shake of Smuggler’s Blues and decided not to over-explain.

You do remember that I lived overseas from the age of 5, and lived in Scotland for the last two and a half years of high school, right?

Hahaha, actaully, no, I'd forgotten. Lemme ask my co-author. You okay with .doc files?

How familiar are you with:

Harry Potter
NCIS
The Sharpe movies

There are a couple of reference that folks familiar with other source material will catch, but those are our big three.

Mario Lopez was trying to get Cameron Diaz to sing “Extra” on cue to one side and Joan Rivers was cackling on the other when he felt a light touch on his elbow. He apologized on automatic, pulling away, surprised when the touch came again. He glanced back to see an impossibly glamorous woman smile somewhat stiffly at him. “No, I was trying to get your attention. Waving really isn’t … well…” she glanced over to where random American Idol runner ups were throwing their arms joyfully around one another. Her own dress was beautiful, though restrictive, and Zachary realized who she was. He expected her to be shorter, though he couldn’t have guessed why ( ... )

Wonderful! Exactly the kind of flirty-possibilities kiss I had hoped for.

Seriously. Fade to black is more my thing (or fade to sitting together in a dark cinema) is much more alluring than blatant holo-deck eroticism sometimes.

When the first fat drops hit the windshield, she slammed on the brakes, fishtailed to the side of the road, and flinging the door wide, leaps out to dance in the middle of the road.

Heh, I got halfway into my first thought (where you went, probably,) and I realized that I’d done it, sort of. So let’s go with second thought. Changing your wording a bit ( ... )

I will happily dance in the rain with you just before you get all famous-like.

It's not the most compromising position he's ever been in, but the others don't count, since he's never been caught before.Okay, clearly I suck at this game, since I had this half written before I remembered that the prompt was supposed to be a first line. Whoops ( ... )

Yay, I'm glad you like it.

I miss you.

I can read your posts here, but I can't comment or see them there, so I see what you are saying, but I'm on the other side of a glass window, it feels like.
