This particular project has been difficult to figure out, for my dress. I have never made so much stuff for an event and got a bit lost in my research. Too many trails to track.
So I have settled on
this dress and Spenser for my regency costume. I have enough green poly taffeta, good stuff, to make up the Spenser and some trim. It is a dark green, changeable to black. Very cool stuff without looking syntheticy. Am hoping to find braid to match so I don't have to make self trim. Silk and ocean spray are not a happy couple.
M's Spenser will be based off a child's Spenser from "Costume in Detail". I am commissioning her bonnet (and mine) as time is of the essence. I will likely stick mine to the fashion plate, depending on how much fabric I have. Love the stripes.
Am tweaking her Spenser as I simply don't like the front ruffle. It just doesn't make sense to me that there is a ruffle in the front under the waist but not in the back. Am not the purist, so it will make the switch. Am in love with the 6 rows of piping around the waist band. That one will be fun. I will also be simplifying the sleeve poofs on the Spenser, as fussy bits will have to go the way of the dodo an I still have hubby's outfit to make. Will be making for of the waistband piping and using that as trip. Repeating a motif, yes's that's it. Not lazy at all.
Oct 12, Oct 12. I want to be done enough to have photos the morning of.
