I haven't finished the first draft of my novel yet (130,000 words and counting :P), but I'm already thinking about the rewrite and getting kind of excited about it.

There is a major subplot that is completely missing from this draft because I hadn't done enough research to know the first thing about how to write it, and frankly, I waffled on what ( Read more... )

Just finished reading American Gods by Neil Gaiman.  It gave me nightmares and the ick factor was high (for me, anyway... I'm a tad prudish, okay?), but I loved the concept.

So I started writing the scenes of my novel on index cards, as I planned, and got through about chapter 5.  And I was right, it does provide some clarity.  It makes it very clear indeed where the weak scenes are and there are lots.

So many that it almost feels pointless to keep going with the cards because I feel like I need to rewrite the whole ( Read more... )
