Dragon quilt progress

Jul 11, 2012 15:53

I've got the little bugger quilted.  This was my first time using a twin needle and it was a smashing success, if I do say so myself.  What was not a smashing success was the thread I used.  *facepalm*  I'm really happy with how it turned out, but there was much gnashing of teeth and ripping of stitches.  Invisible thread is, well, invisible and ( Read more... )

Thanks!

Oh, you are coming to this project late. This is supposed to be based on a crop circle which is why the quilting is so boring:D

Eeee, thanks. I'm really pleased with how it's coming together. I've learned a lot on this project too (like how I shouldn't be too scared to try new techniques, except ones involving invisible thread, apparently:D).

Thanks!

It's funny, most of the parts have not taken so much work. I started thinking about this last fall, but didn't start cutting anything until Feb.

I wanted to a dragon based on a crop circle and skuares offered to draw that for me. Otherwise, yes, it's completely designed by me.

Looks really good! I was curious how you would quilt it in the end because of the colorful border and the motiv in the middle. Where do you want to place the beading? Only on/around the dragon or also in the border?

My day war rather uneventful. I avoided cleaning the appartment as much as I could;) Then I gave some lessons, met a friend and went to work. I came home just now.

Plus I wrote ca. 1.000 words as answer to a Suits prompt. In English! I'm surprised myself:D

Have fun on your vacation! How long will you be away? And where?

Ah, yes. I wanted to give some feeling of those rows that pop out when you see pictures of crop circles. That's why I used the double needle.

The beading will be around the dragon (for the wings) and then on the body as well. I will probably do some beading in the border and also in those empty corners.

LoL. I avoid cleaning on a regular basis as well:D Yay for words!

We are going to Seattle for almost three weeks. Visiting family. I will have internet. Do not worry. I won't be as disappeared as I was in the Caymans:D

Ah, ok... that's why the double needle. Are you satisfied with the result? I never used one so I can't compare.

I hope it won't be too stressful. Family can be tons of fun and not so much fun.

Yes! Definitely satisfied (after much ripping, grrrr).:D It has the intended effect in person. Hard to see it in the picture.

Nah. It will be fine. Or as fine as not being in one's house can be. We do this every other year.

Your whole invisible thread problem makes me wonder how the hell Wonder Woman got into, let alone fly, her invisible jet.

Lovely quilt btw!!!

LOL! Perfect question reni! I wonder that too. I thought "invisible thread" was just a sort of nickname. That it would not be so hard to work with. I think I would have noticed the problem much sooner had I used a single needle.

Thanks! It's the first thing I've made for myself since I made my first quilt. I'm liking it too:)
