Yesterday was full of win. It was very busy, but I had a really good day. I was at school with DD2 and I got to take kids out on nature walks around the grounds in little groups. I took three groups out and with the second group we found a leaf that was hanging by a spider web thread. When I pointed it out to the kids, they looked at it and giggled! It was the cutest thing ever:) I have such an appreciation for this preschool teacher. It's like having a female Mr Rogers. She is very patient and talks slowly and can seem unintelligent, but boy does she connect with three year olds. It really gave me an appreciation for my three year old! What a gift.
After that, I raced home and met people who were coming over. I was five minutes late because traffic was so bad:P But we had a nice afternoon with friends (and my next door showed up in my back yard and totally confused me until I realized it was him, so I chatted with him briefly). Then I had ten minutes to make popcorn and get DD2 ready to go. Off we went to pick up DD1 and hang out on the playground with friends. We came home around 5 and DD2 was totally drooping. In fact, she fell asleep around 5! She had a fever of 102.7 and slept until almost 5 this morning when she climbed into bed with us. A friend had offered to sit for us so we could go to the dance, so we took her up on the offer and went dancing. She and DD1 had a good time and after we got home, dh spent quite a while chatting with our friend. I gave up and went to bed. The dance was fun, except I couldn't breath after a while which was a bummer. But I got to hold a friend's eight week old baby and dance with friends and have nice conversations, so it was all good.
This morning I dragged myself out of bed at 9. DH and DD1 went to the farmer's market and didn't get back until 11:30. Ack! I was late for services. On my way over there, I dropped off some food for a friend (a small lunch portion) and then stayed at services for about an hour. I had to leave early. I went and picked up a free crockpot I scored on freecycle, hit the drug store for a new nasal spray and went to the library to get the books that were on hold. It felt like a very productive 2 1/2 hours.
Now it's almost 2:30 and I'm hoping to do a load or two of laundry, clean out the car, and help spread mulch around. Ok, the last is dh's idea, not mine, but still, it would be a good thing for us to do. Maybe DD2 will perk up a bit. Apparently they went to the fire station (just up the street from us) for the open house and had a good time there, although DD2 was a bit droopy in the stroller on the way there.
So, what should I try making in the crockpot first?:)
