Final days
2.5 days... She's driving back with her brother tomorrow, arriving some time in the evening.
Today my parents and I drove around Scottsdale to a few of the more famous shopping centers and hotels. Saw the Royal Palms Hotel, which is one of the oldest in the Phoenix area, as well as the Arizona Biltmore, whose design was influenced by Frank Lloyd Wright. He wasn't the principal architect, but his design touches can be seen all over. This evening we went out to eat at Club O (or more formally known as Mastro's Ocean Club Fish House). It is run by the same people as the regular Mastro's restaurant that we went to a few days ago, but this one specializes in seafood. My Dad was interviewed and photographed a few days ago by the New York Times. They were doing an article about new designs in garages. We had a specialty floor finish as well as a bunch of cabinetry and custom storage in our garage built in, so they took some pictures of that - I'll have to get a copy of that article. We got a $150 gift card to this restaurant out of the deal from the manufacturer of the garage stuff, so it was cool. Really good food.
My Dad is flying back to MN tomorrow morning (actually in 6 hours or so), so my Mom and I will hang out tomorrow and do a bit more sightseeing. We'll probably go out and visit my grandparents one more time as well. I'm coming back Friday afternoon.. departing Phoenix at 3:30pm, getting into DSM around 11:15pm. Hopefully Saturday afternoon/night/whatever Kim and I will be able to hang out.. go out to eat, or something :).
