I went to the range again today. Send 50 rounds 50 yards with my Sig p220 45 cal pistol. At first glance, it looks like I did about as well as last time, which is both consistent and pretty damn good. However I think I actually ended up shooting a little bit better this time.
I made the mistake of drinking half a bottle of Mt Dew on the drive to the range, and was noticeably less steady than last time, as well as had a harder time holding concentration and sight picture. My first strings accounted for the all the flyers and the overall largish group size. In the last 20 rounds I finally fell into the zone, and 15 of those were in the black sticker :) Now if I could just consistently shoot as well as my last 20 rounds, I'd tighten my group up to about 6 inches. Something to work towards.
I might eventually want to adjust my sights. I'm having to aim about 2" left and 3" high to group in the black at 50 yards. According to my owners manual, a sight change of .02 inches translates to about 3 inches at 25 yards. This means a .003 inch adjustment translates to one inch at 50 yards. I'd have to buy a $216 alignment tool to make adjustments that small.
