Moff is just so sexist and even classiest that it isn't even funny. Who was he speaking about in that quote? The new Companion? I swear if he brings in that damn River Song. . . (who no one actually seems to like. . .)

Moffat's just an ass, with just about every prejudice a middle aged, middle class, British while man can possess.

Yeah, he was talking about the new companion, no indication that it is she who will not be named, but I still would be too surprised if it was.

...I liked River Song.

Mine is the loneliest fandom.

ETA: but I actually really don't want her to be the next Companion, I want them to leave things exactly as they are and never explain it any more than that. But this is Doctor Who that we're talking about so I'm sure they'll bring her back and find some way to make me dislike her right away.

I know you like her, it's unusual as far as I know, but there are some. Different characters for different people.

But leaving things the way they are works for me. That means people like me can ignore the episodes and pretend that season 4 only has 11 episodes (plus various specials), and people like you can speculate and come up with all kinds of probably good story possibilities that...well you may or may not have fewer issues with Moffat, but let's say that I'm on the side of fandom that really hopes Moffat never gets his grubby sexist paws of my favorite characters.

Well I should clarify that I liked River Song in spite of Moffat rather than because of. IMO he wrote two great episodes (The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances) and three above-average episodes (Blink and the two you didn't like) and otherwise has not really proven that he can run the whole show, in my view. I definitely don't understand why all of fandom is lining up to lovingly tongue-bathe his dick on the strength of creepy angels and a creepy kid in a gas mask. And though I liked his s4 episodes, they had way too much of a tendency I don't like in Doctor Who, which was when it turns into "teh lonely god omgz0rz" instead of "wacky time travels with your crazy uncle ( ... )

I loved TEC/TDD back when they first aired but since then...I've started to see Moffat's issues even there. I have a good deal of hatred for TGitF too, just not as much as the season 4 eps. And I viwe Blink as a pretty average episode, scary but that's not a primary determination for whether I like episodes or not. Moffat writes witty dialog and scary monsters (usually) but that's about all I can say for him ( ... )
