You know what never gets old? Going to see a great musical. Seriously, it never gets old. And half the reason I came out here for law school was to be close to Broadway (which, depending on how bad this economy gets/how many shows end up closed, may have been a slight misstep). Nothing can make a day better as well as a good show can. The last show I went to see prior to yesterday was Spring Awakening on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving- nearly a lifetime ago for someone like me.
So, rather than "studying" for torts- in reality, sitting around for hours, maybe working a bit on something- I went to see Gypsy again. Such a good decision. The first time I was front row, which, while letting you actually be a part of the show (I got an apple from a stripper), makes it impossible to see certain parts of the show. This time I was about 7 rows back, "partial view", which really wasn't partial view, for the same price. So I got to see everything- and the show was beyond amazing. The first time I loved it, every second. This time I just about passed out from the amazingness of it.
See, they were taping the show for the Lincoln Center Archives Collection, so everyone was super spot on. In fact, I can't even speak about how amazing the show was. It just was perfection. I actually bought the cast recording off iTunes after. I can't believe it's closing on the 11th. I honestly think I'll try to catch one of the last shows if I can, that's how much I love this show. And, the cast is perfection- each one is great.
Well, time to bum around some more and not study.....maybe we'll have a snow day tomorrow- that's what the rumor is if the storm really hits like they say it will.....
