I've been seeing and hearing a wide variety of kids music on Noggin. One of my personal favorite shows is Jack's Big Music Show. It combines puppetry with real musicians and music videos for kids. The main group featured on both the show and Noggin itself is the Laurie Berkner Band. She is really spunky and the songs they do are really cute. You can see some of their videos on noggin.com and on her own website laurieberkner.com. Two other groups featured on the show who have CDs out full of more kid music are Hot Peas 'N Butter and Music for Aardvarks. The show has also featured many other musicians who don't write specifically for kids. Sweet Honey in the Rock, Cathy Richardson, Buddy Guy, and Nuttin But Stringz make guest appearances also. I wish Noggin had a full list of all the musicians that have made guest appearances so I could look them up as well. Nuttinbutstringz.com is another site to look into. I will have to check out some of their other music. They are two brothers who look like they are about ready to break out in standard hip hop music until they pull out their violins. They have a video of their song "Thunder" on Noggin's site under Jack's Big Music Show. It totally rocks! They have even made an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno with that song.
