Actually, two weeks ago last Saturday.
Lovely spring day, by Florida standards. Warm, dry, slightly breezy. And made even more lovely by the fact that we got our car back, with all the damages repaired and a new headlight on the drivers side to match the one replaced on the passenger side. We rejoice over the fact that our car looks almost new...
Me: The headlights...they're clear!
Him: Bumper doesn't look right.
Me: They got all the bugs off of it. Of course it doesn't look right.
...and decide to take our chances with it and head to the local mall. Parking lot is full on the new side of the mall (always is on Saturdays), and the mall itself is rather busy. We spend some time ignoring the clerks perusing the local Apple store, and finally head to where I really wanted to go in the first place - the newest Really Gigantic Bookstore.
Five minutes later finds me in the manga section on my continuing search of anything new that's Fullmetal Alchemist related that I haven't bought already (which there isn't) when a young man enters the aisle next to where I'm standing. He's maybe 16, maybe 17. So is the girl walking next to him. Both are scanning the aisle when he says to her "Where would they have any Kenshin?"
I wait a beat to see if she answers, then say "Around the other side."
He walks towards the end of the aisle, turns his head towards the girl, and says (he thinks quietly), "How does an adult know about Kenshin?"
It takes everything I have to not look over the top of my progressive lenses and laugh. I opt to smile to myself instead, and head over to the next aisle to see if a new Trinity Blood book was accidently released...
