The past couple days have been pretty much amazing.
Wednesday night, of course, the Red Wings win the Stanley Cup. Thursday, after an excruciating day at work and a frustrating day of just not being happy with how things were going, I got a surprise visit from the boyfriend I was less than happy with at that point but he helped me clean part of the disaster area we call my room and we ate dinner, hung out with my parents a bit and played pool and by the end of the night I felt pretty darn happy with him again. Apparently I tend to get cranky with just not having time around him. Simple proximity remedies the situation just fine.
Friday, I get a text message to start my morning at 7:40. I spent 20 minutes ignoring the message convincing myself that I wanted to keep sleeping. Then I got a phone call. Couldn't ignore that. Trent was on the line saying that some construction near his office knocked out a gas main and they canceled work. Pretty darn cool. So he and some co workers decided to head downtown into Detroit and watch the Stanley Cup victory parade. Trent pretty much said if I could make it to his house by 9:15 when everyone was meeting, I could come too. (Keep in mind, in good traffic he's 45 mins away, rush hour commute times usually double that time span. When he actually got me up and out of bed with the situation at hand, it was approximately 8:10am.) I threw things in a bag and ran out the door, thinking if I could get there I could shower and be ready. I arrived at his house at 9:10, said hi to one of his friends who was already there and took the worlds fastest shower and was ready to leave when his last friend arrived at 9:25. Not bad if I do say so myself. We went down to the parade, had a blast (pictures are up at facebook and
http://picasaweb.google.com/kristen.milligan/WingsParade ) then walked around til we decided nice chilled sandwiches at Subway would be better than standing around waiting to get in somewhere or wait for someone to actually wait on us (we tried several very 'downtown' places before settling on this) and after lunch split up and went home.
After the friends left, Trent had a few hours to spare before a work outing, kind of a last fling for one of the associates who was leaving the office. We spent the afternoon just wrapped up (ironic due to how hot we were after walking around in 90+ degrees but under a fan in AC was pretty nice) with each other and snuggling and napping. Absolutely perfect. I sent him off, got home in time to chat with my mom and send my parents off as they went up north to the cabin for a night and spend much of the night alone in the house watching baseball and uploading photos.
Today started out incredibly sucky. I got up on time to be to work at 9:00am after not being able to sleep until approx. 2:00am. While I was in the shower, my boss called and asked me to come in later and since I was -for once- actually on time, I got a few things accomplished including paying bills, drying clothes, putting sheets on my parent's bed and preparing for work afterward, incase I was needed to sell after running this errand. I left early to drop my car payment at the post office and immediately after the envelope left my hand, it occurred to me I never put a stamp on the envelope. I got to work to see my boss was sending me off in this most atrocious monstrosity of a truck, one that has no door handles on the inside, no AC or radio, the ignition doesn't work so one has to switch between the duel gas tanks and keep one empty and the other full so when one shuts the truck off, the switch flips to the empty tank and one waits for the truck to consequently stall out. If it's being left for a long period of time, the battery needs to be disconnected. My boss also sent me out without gas, but with money and told me to stop for gas. Now 10:30, an hour after the revised time he'd given me and I'm on the road after getting gas and a fiasco that involved me having to call and have one of the other workers come and restart the truck for me because something went wrong. From there, things were mostly ok. Got the plants we needed without too much issue and got back without further problems. On the other hand, I was tired and overheated and pissed off at the cursed truck and by the time my boss wanted to make fun of me (again, more) for the previously mentioned fiasco, I was not a happy camper. I left, was not needed to sell so I went grocery shopping and came home. I then went back out, got gas, mowed the lawn, showered, did laundry and started making cookies before Trent came over with dinner to make. We hung out in the still empty house and once dinner was eaten and all the cookies were baked, we decided to go putt putt golfing (he won) and then we rented a movie (Juno) and came back home. We said hi to my parents and watched the first movie, played a game of checkers and watched a second movie (Big Fish) while a monster thunderstorm came through. All in all, with the exception of Trent having to go home instead of staying here, it was a fantastic night, one that he made even better by riding though the bad-day crankiness until I'd gotten over it and we could enjoy ourselves. He also let me make choices, citing that it was my birthday month and the celebration should be starting now so things were my decision. :) I really really love this guy.
So now I'm laying in bed, waiting for him to message me that he got home ok. Between the late late night and the thunderstorms (among other reasons :) ), I hated sending him home. Tomorrow I figure I'll make an appearance at church before I have to be to work and then chill for the rest of the evening.
Hope things are well with everyone. :)
