KinKi Kids - Yume wo Mireba Kizutsuku Koto Mo Aru 夢を見れば傷つくこともあるLyrics/Romaji/Translation

Nov 20, 2015 16:26

I translated KinKi Kid’s latest song! Hopefully I’m not too rusty at this, and I took some liberties in translating intent, but let me know if I made any mistakes!

Everyone, keep dreaming!

向い風 吹くだけで
ナイフの刃が擦(かす)るように
この胸のどこか
痛み感じる 今

mukaikaze fuku dake de
NAIFU no ka ga kasuru you ni
kono mune no doko ka
itami kanjiru ima

Just from the headwinds blowing
Striking like the blade of a knife
Somewhere in my chest
I feel pain right now

ただ違う道を
歩こうとすれば
風は強くなるだろう
やりたいことしか
やりたくないなら
そう しょうがない

tada chigau michi wo
arukou to sureba
kaze ha tsuyokunaru darou
yaritai koto shika
yaritakunai nara
sou shouganai

Just walking along a different path
the wind will be stronger
If you only want to do
what you want to do
Well, it can’t be helped

夢見れば
傷つくこともある
信じることとは
まっすぐに進むこと
可能性は
いつだって前にある
泣きたい時には
ちゃんと
前を向いて泣け!
Cry!

yume mireba
kizutsuku koto mo aru
shinjiru koto to ha
massugu ni susumu koto
kanousei ha
itsudatte mae ni aru
nakitai toki ni ha
chanto
mae wo muite nake!
Cry!

If you follow your dreams,
you might get hurt
To believe in them is to
Earnestly work unbendingly towards them
The possibility is
always in front of you
And if you want to cry
Make sure you face your dreams head on while doing so!
Cry!

みんなのその後から
歩いてくのは楽だよ
でもそうどこへと
向かうか
知らない

minna no so no ushiro kara
aruiteku no ha raku dayo
demo sou doko he to
mukau ka
shiranai

Walking in the footsteps of everyone else
is surely easier
But, as to where
you’re heading
You won’t know

自分の未来を
選んだのならば
地図はいらないだろう
暗闇の中を
手探りしながら
ただ 行くだけさ

jibun no mirai wo
eranda no naraba
chizu ha iranai darou
kurayami no naka wo
tesaguri shinagara
tada iku dake sa

If you want to decide
your own future
you won’t need a map
In the darkness while
fumbling around
you just need to keep moving forward

夢見なきゃ
傷つくこともない
希望を捨てれば
絶望もしないだろう
生きる意味
考えて見るんだ
一度の人生
残り
何ができるのか?
Try!

yume mina kya
kizutsuku koto mo nai
kibou wo sutereba
zetsubou mo shinai darou
ikiru imi
kangaete mirunda
ichido no jinsei
nokori
nani ga dekiru no ka?
Try!

If you don’t want to dream
You won’t get hurt
If you throw away your hopes
You’ll never be disappointed
The meaning of life
I tried to think about it
You only have one life
With the remaining of it
What can you do?
Try!

僕らの世界は
もっと広いんだ
知らないことだらけだ
無駄足でもいい
歩き回ればいい
血を流しても…

bokura no sekai ha
motto hiroin da
shiranai koto darake da
muda ashi demo ii
aruki mawareba ii
chi wo nagashitemo

Because our world is
a lot bigger
With many things we don’t know
It's okay to go on fool’s errands
or run around in circles
And even if blood is shed…

夢見れば
傷つくこともある
信じることとは
まっすぐに進むこと
可能性は
いつだって前にある
泣きたい時には
ちゃんと
前を向いて泣け!
Cry!

yume mireba
kizutsuku koto mo aru
shinjiru koto to ha
massugu ni susumu koto
kanousei ha
itsudatte mae ni aru
nakitai toki ni ha
chanto
mae wo muite nake!
Cry!

If you follow your dreams,
you might get hurt
To believe in them is to
Earnestly work unbendingly towards them
The possibility is
always in front of you
And if you want to cry
Make sure you face your dreams head on while doing so!
Cry!

Translation Notes:
(1) The Japanese lyrics are a lot more poetic than how I translated them.
(2) Literally, 夢見る means to have a dream / have dream-like thoughts / fantasize about the future - which I roughly translated as following your dreams, which I felt was apt given the general feeling of the song.
(3) The song uses the idea of walking down a different path than others to represent following your dreams, as opposed to following in someone's footsteps (or following a path someone else made). Where doing this is easier, you don't decide what you get to do. On the other hand, forging your own path is difficult, as the song repeatedly emphasizes and also alludes to, where the wind (or difficulties) is stronger (or are greater) along these other untrodden paths.
