The moment he sees Kaylee fall, Jayne instinctively reaches out to pull her to safety.

Without thinking of the danger he is putting himself in, he quickly pulls Kaylee behind the bush.

Checking her for injuries, he immediately sees the blood pooling under her arm.

“Ta ma de!” he swears, taking off his jacket and pressing it to her wound.

He knows these are precious minutes, that he needs to get her into Serenity and checked over by Simon, quickly.

Scooping her up in his arms, he shields her with his body as he runs into Serenity’s open cargo bay.
