So, the
Brisbane River is starting to bust at the seams, with the Riverside walkways under and bike tracks next to the river under. West End is flooding and a l
ist of 30 suburbs at threat has been posted. Caboolture, outside of Brisbane, is completely cut off - they're evacuating via the air at this point.
My bridge at 12pm:
That tree in the middle, usually safely on the bank, was completely under when I came back through at 2.
Water is up over the pipe now. Hope my awesome landlady can make it back over. :/ If it's supposed to be worse tomorrow and Thursday, then I'll likely be cut off for a few days. Hopefully the water wont get contaminated and the power will stay on. *fingers crossed*
It is STILL RAINING, that water from Toowoomba that went through the Lockyer Valley and Grantham is about to fetch up in the River and Wyvenhoe Dam is at 170% capacity. Campbell Newman or Anna Bligh said they'd be opening the floodgates to stop the dam from breaching (that would be a disaster, yes), so a hell of a lot of water is going to come down the river at some point, probably tomorrow.
I'm fine at this stage. Just hoping everybody along the river is ok.
ETA:
Live Ustream of the Brisbane river. Quite dramatic footage of boats dancing around the debris about ten minutes ago. You can see the current going DAMN fast.
