Everything has been pretty good on the kidney front. The only snag I have run into is crazy weight gain. Ever since I was let off my renal diet I have been gaining weight like a crazy person. I realized I haven't written anything in some time about my health and well being. Fortunately in this case no news is in fact good news. Everything has been going rather well. I haven't really written anything because there was nothing worth writing about... and I got World of Warcraft.

This morning I was told I was being removed from the clinical study. The reason being that the study drug was not performing for me in the way they had hoped. I am to be placed on a more traditional regiment. Now I know I can't stay on a drug that isn't performing properly but the promise of the study drug was pretty great ( Read more... )

Yesterday I had a doctors appointment at The U of M. As far as I knew it was another post-transplant clinic appointment. My creatinine count was rather high again so they instructed me to get my blood redrawn Thursday. If it hadn't gone down by a significant amount they would have to do a biopsy. I hope I don't jinx it by posting this but today is the third consecutive day without that strange, bitter taste in my mouth. I can still notice a hint of it occasionally but it is almost entirely gone. I hope this lasts. In any event I am taking the opportunity to enjoy the taste of sweet foods. I think I am going to go grab an orange.

I have had this terrible, bitter taste in my mouth ever since I started taking that handful of pills after transplant. It is always lingering but it is more noticeable when I eat or drink, particularly drink, sweet things or water. It is down right disgusting. After glancing over my livejournal friend page, it seems that nobody is really having a great time this week. I for one am looking forward to a different year. I know it is just a number on a calendar but the symbolism is just what I need right now.

As an aside, people really should stop shooting botulism into their faces. It is just weird.

I was warned in the hospital that the effects of the drug prednisone were not unlike being pregnant. Over the course of this week I have discovered why. I feel hungry all the time and have cravings for strange foods. When things don't go my way I have 50/50 chance of getting insanely pissed off or breaking down in tears.
