Day Twenty-Two: Favorite female character you love but everyone else hates

Funnily enough goldy_dollar discussed this last Saturday over pie and tea, and the fandom I kept going back to was Bones. That's not to say other fandoms aren't guilty of hating female characters that seem threatening to the OTP, but the Bones fandom is guilty of this twice over: Cam (whom everyone loves now) and Hannah. I'm going to discuss both of them. Shame on you fandom for having such outrageous double-standards (You practically don't respond to Sully but I can feel the hate for Cam and Hannah? Uncool!)

Cam started off coming intro a tough situation (replacing Goodman? coming in from outside, thereby having Bones lose out on a promotion and having to get Bones used to her? Having had an affair with Booth? All things adding up to a stressful job start) but she handled it well; she earned the respect of her subordinates (even while using bad nicknames) and is now a lot clser to her team than Goodman ever was. Also she's got an awesomely bad sense of humour. :D

Brennan: [watching Booth's Hockey game] I do not know how I feel about this.
Sweets: Very primal.
Cam: I like it! Just a little too much.

Hodgins: [after receiving some evidence] You know you could be my lovely assistant
Cam: Yes. But since I'm your boss. You're *my* lovely assistant.
[Cam leaves]
Hodgins: Ah. Yeah. At least I'm lovely.

Booth: Okay, can somebody just please remove the eyeball.
Cam: [Picks up the object] This is not an eyeball.
Booth: What is it?
Cam: I'll put it this way, our victim was male

Brennan: But it does appear that our victim was in the habit of injuring himself annually in a variety of risky behaviors.
Cam: So a guy with one gonad had balls.

Hannah is interesting, I feel like I didn't get to know her well but I liked that she followed her guts from being a war correspondent to moving to DC but saying no to Booth's proposal. I also loved that she and Bones were friends and that she was scared of Parker (I just love seeing women on tv who aren't exactly maternal).

Hannah: Media is used to distract us all the time.
Booth: [Quietly to Hannah] You're taking him seriously?
Hannah: Michael Jackson's funeral is on 24 hours a day. And nobody finds out about the Honduras coup. Felt fishy to me.
Hodgins: I love this woman.

Hannah: I think I'm the only one in the press corps who refuses to write her stories for press release.
Booth: You're going to be trouble while you're here, aren't you?
Hannah: As much as possible. Isn't that why you love me?
Booth: It's definitely one of the reasons

Day Twenty-Thre: Favorite female platonic relationship
Donna and Martha. Come on, they didn't fight over the Doctor and got on like crazy from the get-go.

(that has got to be my favourite promo pic from that series of DW)

The Doctor: Martha, Donna. Donna, Martha. Please Don't fight. I can't bear fighting.
Donna: You wish.
[shaking Martha's hand]
Donna: I've heard all about you. He talks about you all the time.
Martha: I dread to think.
Donna: No, no, no. No he says nice things. Good things. Nice things; really good things.
Martha: [embarrassed] Oh, my God
[quickly brushing her bangs aside]
Martha: he's told you everything.
Donna: [noticing the ring on the hand she just used] Didn't take long to get over it, though. Who's the lucky man?
The Doctor: What man? Lucky what?
Donna: She's engaged you prawn.
The Doctor: [as Martha shows the Doctor her ring] Really, who to?
Martha: Tom. That Tom Milligan. He's in paediatrics. Working out in Africa right now. And yes, I know; I've got a doctor who disappears off to distant places. Tell me about it.
Donna: Is he skinny?
Martha: No, he's sort of... strong.
Donna: [pointing to the Doctor] *He* is too skinny for words. You give him a hug you get a paper cut!
The Doctor: [as Martha laughs] Oh, I rather you were fighting.
