Part 1 He is my most beloved friend and my bitterest rival, my confidant and my betrayer, my sustainer and my dependent, and scariest of all, my equal.

The instructor stood by the door waiting for Donghae to walk inside.
Donghae looked over at him and scurried over in hopes of doing good in his audition for Hankyung at least.
Hankyung sat in one of the chairs against the wall and crossed his arms, waiting. He hoped for Donghae to come out looking disappointed. He could only wait.
Donghae eyed the audition director and smiled at him as he gave the go ahead. He spied the girl that would be his dance partner over in the corner but ignored her for now. He took a breath and danced his heart out to his single dance, soon followed by just has much passion in the partner dance. He even got over that trip spot from earlier. The free style was what he had fun with the most and he took note of the director's smile when he stopped.
Hankyung frowned when one of the other instructors walked up to him and sat. "That was your Dongsaeng right? He's adorable. Hankyung glared. "Fuck off, it's none of your business whether he's my brother or not." He growled. The instructor cringed at his sudden tone. "I was just saying...he's nothing at all like you described him"
"That's what you think, you don't live with him." He said as the door to the audition room opened and Donghae reemerged. Hankyung didn't move. He knew Donghae would come tell him how it went.
There wasn't a wasted moment between Donghae walking over to him and Donghae tackling him where he sat.
"I got in Hyung!" He squealed but soon covered his mouth from embarrassment of sounding to much like a girl.
Hankyung pushed him off. "Good now go home." He growled. He got up then, to teach his next candidate.
"I have to work tonight." Donghae pouted and looked out the window back to the school. He wondered to himself if he could skip the rest...probrally not but it was past time for school to be out anyway. He sighed before waving bye to all of them.
"I'll have dinner fixed when you get home Hyung. " He called before heading out the door.
Hankyung rolled his eyes. "I'll eat fast food." He said frowning but began teaching his new applicant.
Donghae had already made his way home and was finishing up the cooking for the both of them. Hankyung's favorite, beijing fried rice, as a thank you for letting him audition.
Hankyung sighed. He was tired and deprived. He had a cigarette lit before he was all the way out the door to go home. 527. That's the number of candidates that tried to get into their studio.... of them, 49 got in excluding Donghae. ~Donghae..... Damn it now not only do I have to put up with him at home but now at work too.~ Hankyung thought getting in the car to go home. He was tired and he wanted to rest. He stopped by the best fast food place between his work and home and continued home.
Donghae had the table fixed with the best looking rice one could imagine. He beamed with pride as he fixed the plates and sat waiting for his brother to get home. He kept a smile, and any thoughts that could possible be related to his brother's ignoring him was out of his mind.
Hankyung pulled up, putting his cigarette out as he got out of the car. He grabbed his bag and food and headed inside. He figured Donghae would nag him to no end if he tried shooting up anything in the house so he decided he'd wait until later on or tomorrow. He went in the door and headed straight for his room.
Donghae heard the door open and looked over as his brother walked in.
"Hyung!" He started. "I made your favorite! Come Eat."
"I'm not hungry." He lied going upstairs and shutting the door. He dropped his bag and went to his bed with the food. He actually would like some of Donghae's Beijing fried rice but he was stubborn and ate what he'd bought like he said he would. "Stupid Magnae always trying to cling. It's annoying" He grumbled.
Donghae's smiled fell, as he watched him go upstairs. He wasn't blind, he had seen the bag of food, Hankyung had held. He slowly turned back to the rice and started eating, taking perhaps twoo bites of food before pushing it aside.
.
Hankyung got halfway through his food and put it aside, sighing. He got up as much as he didn't want to and headed downstairs again. He didn't speak to Donghae as he got a bowl from the counter and dipped himself some rice.
Donghae, had laid his head down in that time and looked up quickly as his brother walked in. He watched as he dipped some of the rice in a bowl and smiled. He chose not to speak, knowing it was better not to.
Hankyung stopped at the door. "You have practice tomorrow after school..... if you have to work, too bad. Three missed practices and you're cut." He said before going back up.
"I wouldn't miss it for the world." Donghae smiled watching Hankyung go back up the stairs. He turned back to his rice, and quickly finished it, a new sense of happiness inside of him. He put the dishes in the sink to wash later and headed upstairs to take a shower.
Hankyung heard the door shut to the bathroom and walked over to it, sticking something inside to jam the door. "Stay there until you rot for all I care." He growled going to finish his rice.
Donghae had just stepped into the shower and hadn't heard Hankyung's jamming of the door. He washed himself, from head to toe. Before stepping out. a quick dry off, and stepping into his night clothes, as well as holding tightly to the beanie from earlier, he went to open the door but found that he couldn't. He tried harder but still couldn't get it to budge. He started banging on the door in hopes of getting Hankyung's attention.
"..Hankyung!" He shouted. "..The door's stuck!"
A smirk crept onto Hankyung's face as he heard Donghae. He got up only to throw away his take out tray and took his bowl to the kitchen. On his way back to his room, he paused outside the bathroom. "I know that it's stuck. I'm the one who did it dumbass." He said loud enough to let Donghae hear it.
Donghae stopped his hand resting on the door. "...Hyung.." he whispered. "..Open the door please, Hyung." Donghae's other hand tightened on the beanie.
Hankyung frowned. "Why should I? You're most useful when you're not around so you'll be in there for a while. I'll call the school and tell them you've become ill." He said, the smile returning. "I wonder how long it'll take you to starve since water's provided." He mused.
Donghae stood frozen behind the door listening to him. Was his brother really that desperate to try and get rid of him?
"Hyung!?" He shouted banging on the door again. "You can't be serious!? "
"...As a heart attack......" Hankyung said walking away. He knew he'd probably have to endure Donghae's whining for a while. He'd also have a time explaining his absence after a while but he really didn't care. Even if once in a blue moon, their parents DID come home.
Donghae listened to his footsteps as he walked away but didn't let him go without a fight of words.
"Hyung! Hyung! Please Hyung!" Tears had started forming in his eyes and before long had started to fall. The calls didn't stop in till better reasoning gave him the understanding to know that his brother wouldn't change his mind.
Hankyung smiled in triumph as he heard Donghae's cries subside. He went to his bathroom and drug out his supplies, getting a sterile needle from under the cabinet. "Nice." He said before he injected himself once again.
Donghae turned to look around the bathroom. This was the time where he wished he didn't keep the house neat and tidy. He had originally done it so Hankyung wouldn't trip over anything when he got home. It was now that donghae noted, soap, toothbrushes, and a bottle of shampoo would do little good at knocking down a door. He sighed and lay his head on the back of the door. If his brother did leave for another extended period of time...who was to say..Donghae wouldn't starve to death.
Hankyung felt strange. Stranger than when he would when he shot up any drug. He made his way back towards the bathroom, staggering slightly. "Hae......." He mumbled, removing what he'd used to jam the door but collapsing at the door. ~Damn it.... it must have finally caught up with me. I bet I've overdosed......~ He thought.
Donghae shifted as he heard the door and nearly shouted as Hankyung toppled over, Donghae wasting no time in catching him.
"..Hyung...Hyung are you alright?"
"Do I look like I'm alright?" He growled out in pain. ~Of all times....~ "Get me to a doctor.~ He said though he knew it was probably a bad idea.
Donghae nodded and lay him down before running to the phone grabbing it and calling 119. After rushing to Hankyung's room he grabbed the best source of Hankyung's drugs he could find and made his way back to Hankyung. "..I promise you..." he whispered running a hand through Hankyung's head. "I won't leave your side."
Hankyung didn't really care whether he did or not but he was slightly surprised that he'd even stay. ".....Thanks....." He mumbled hoping Donghae wouldn't hear.Donghae smiled down at him having heard but didn't act on it. He put the beanie, that he hadn't let go of the entire time back on his head as he heard the ambulance pull up outside.
Hankyung heard the ambulance pull up and let the darkness claim him. He didn't know whether he'd wake up or not but he was too tired to care.
~-.-~
By the time everything had been settled at the hospital, Donghae had fallen asleep his head resting on Hankyung's bed, his hand interlocked with his hyung's.
Hankyung wondered idly if he was dead or not but upon hearing the incessant beeping of the machines around him, he figured either he was alive, or in hell. He blinked once, trying to focus the room but he ached all over. "Where?" He said and felt the warmth of someone's hand. He looked down at Donghae's hand and frowned, pulling his hand away
.
Donghae shifted a bit at the sudden jerk and blinked up at him.
"Hyung...your awake. How are you feeling?" he whispered.
Hankyung lay his hand back down and looked at the ceiling. "I don't know..... what's wrong with me? OD?" He asked calmly. He'd be surprised if he didn't get arrested.
"...Poor health...exhaustion and stress." Donghae replied. "They said that it would be better for you to stay home and get some rest, and to lessen your drug use." He smiled up at him. "I'm just glad your okay. I honestly wouldn't have been able to smile again if you died..."
"They aren't going to jail me?" Hankyung asked slightly confused. He looked at Donghae. "I don't like to hear things like that from you.... I wouldn't be the same way if you were dieing. I'd move on like normal people do." He said. "Ah, why these damned hospital gowns?!" He growled irritated.
Donghae smiled laughing a bit at his irritation.
"I'm glad you'd be like that, I wouldn't want you lingering over my death." He replied. "Your going to be able to go home tonight, so you don't have to worry about the gown to much."
"You missed my point." Hankyung said crossing his arms. "Good...I really don't want anyone staring at my ass. I mean really, can't they let us keep our underwear on?" He griped.
Donghae laughed again before standing up to stretch. "Your laying down. I doubt anyone would see except for me."
Hankyung glared. "I'd be a little scared if you were staring at my ass. Now off that topic, go get me signed out I want to get home A.S.A.P." He said.
Donghae nodded and scurried off to sign him out. He spoke with the doctor who wanted to examine him over as well seeing his eyes, but Donghae refused the offer. The last thing he ever wanted was to have Hankyung get into trouble.
Hankyung waited for Donghae to get back and when he did, he had Hankyung's clothes in his arms. Hankyung took them and changed, glad to be out of the gown. "We have no car..... I guess we'll have to call a Taxi." He growled leaving the hospital room.
Donghae followed after him making sure he wouldn't fall and holding out arms when he almost did, of course getting pushed away when they touched."Your money is at home so I'll pay for the taxi." Donghae told him as they stood at the door. He made his way over and stopped a taxi.
Hankyung sat beside him in the back seat. "You know I would have left you in there if it hadn't been for my needing help. And what's with the damned beanie?! You've had that thing on since I made you wear it earlier today. That bruise can be covered up. You shouldn't go around getting them." He said Donghae looked up at him and smiled running fingers over the beanie's fabric.
"I guess it's just comfortable." he lied. The beanie was the only thing his brother had ever given him, therefore it was a very special thing to him.
~Pft, 90 degrees and he's wearing a winter hat. Go figure, that's my idot Dongsaeng for you~ Hankyung thought as they pulled up in front of their house.
Donghae waited for the car to stop before opening the door and turning, held a hand out to Hankyung offering to help him up.
Hankyung looked at it and got out on his own, ignoring his offers of help. He left the door to the house open for Donghae to come in behind him and lay on the couch, too tired to go upstairs.
Donghae followed in behind him shutting the door, before looking at him as he took his shoes off.
"Want me to get you anything?"
"Sure if you can get me a new brother. Or none at all..... How long will it take you to realize that I don't like you. I despise you to no end." Hankyung spat.
"...The day I know you don't need me anymore is the day I'll leave you alone." Donghae replied walking past him. "I'm going to get you a blanket and pillow."
Hankyung rolled over to face the back of the couch and sighed. ~I don't need him now.... idiot. I wish he'd get the point. Mom and Dad should have stopped at one.~ He thought.
Donghae had grabbed the pillow and blanket and brought it back. Setting the pillow under his head, and the blanket over him.
"Get some rest...I'll call the dance studio and say your sick"
"I'm not listening to you............ Do what you want." He said. He hated everything about this person who called himself his younger brother. Why couldn't he understand it. Donghae smiled down at him. "I know...but I'm going to help anyway." He smile wasn't as strong as it typically was.He turned and made his way down the hall, not giving a reason but the second he was out of sight, he broke down against the wall in tears. The shattered heart finally giving enough pain to bring out the long hidden tears.
Hankyung started dozing, being comfortable on the couch and warm. He thought he heard something like crying but pushed it aside, he was unconcerned, and drifted off to a light nap.
Donghae had more then broken down, crying till his tears had more then dried up. Cried till he managed to fall asleep in the hall way where he sat.
Hankyung woke from his nap because he was getting a crick in his neck. He sat up and went looking for something to munch on before going to his bedroom to sleep for real. It had to be around 10 P.M. by now. He stopped when he saw Donghae curled up on the floor of the hallway. He took the beanie from him and noted his puffy eyes. ~He was crying.~ He thought before going upstairs and tossing the beanie in his closet.
