Is it just me, or is XP acting more and more like 7 with the addition of Office 2010?

I used Add/Remove Programs to remove iTunes and I still had iTunes data floating around in my computer. The configurations that were giving me trouble were not removed, so when I did a re-install, I had the same problems. It didn't fix anything. It just annoyed me. Every so often, I go through my computer and tidy up loose ends. I verify that my automatic updates have been running as they should, I do a manual configuration scan and run a deep scan that I know I wasn't on the road during and so forth and so on. I just updated my backup. I must be well organized. I had no trouble finding the files that needed to be backed up. And keeping my files sorted out is tricky. I store data on three different drives, with two being working drives and the third is my backup copy of the working two. I was checking on the Dell site. You can still get XP Pro on your computer if you order the Vista 'Bonus' version. They load XP on your machine and send you the Vista Upgrade to do yourself. So, XP is still out there if you know how to find it. Take that, Vista! I refuse to upgrade my entire Office Suite just for an operating system upgrade.

I like to go to The Elder Geek and run through the list of services he keeps on the website and turn off the ones that I don't want to/don't need to run. There are a bunch of small things that add up to a nice performance boost. There is a decrease in security risk as well. Small, but real. A semi-clueless computer user just told me that because she saves every single file to her EHD, she is saving her RAM and her computer is nice and fast. She knows this because she checks it. Wonderful Husband has a new Dell. It gave a BSOD about two hours out of the box, so I called Dell support and poof! I had XPS support. But WH has an Inspiron. I got bounced around a whole lot.
