Baseball and Birthdays

This weekend was a lot of fun. Well, I mostly just relaxed Friday, but Saturday I went to the Twins game with Matt. It was a lot of fun! We were standing in line to get tickets and a man came up to us. He asked, "Are you guys going to buy tickets? Because, I've got two extra, and you can have them. They were free." We thanked him. They were about 30 yard diagonal from 3rd base. Five rows back. So, nice. Plus, they were on left field side, so we had a good view of Delmon Young!

Now, seriously, I've been obsessed with that kid since his Major League debut. He played good defense, and hit a 412-foot two-run homerun that day! (This was August 2006).  I'm like, 'Who is this guy, and why haven't I heard of him?'  I looked, and it was his MLB debut. Nice stuff. I've been watching him ever since.
And, it was pure fucking pleasure when I found out we got him in a trade this off season.

Saturday, I had the privilege of personally seeing his stuff. He got one (nearly two) out field assists. His talent, timing, and arm are so amazing! (He's got a decent bat, too!) But, seriously, if you think Michael Cuddyer has a rocket, check this kid out! The other one he made a perfect throw to home after catching a fly out, but, unfortunately, Mauer was not able to hang on to the ball as he tagged the runner. The other one, a Rpua; (Butler, I believe) was trying to stretch a single into a double. It had bounced of the back wall, so Delmon was facing back wards, caught the bounce, turned around, set, and threw a perfect line drive strike to second base (Tolbert I believe) and got the runner by more than a step. This was beyond fundamentally sound baseball. It was just beautiful.

Delmon is a keeper. Make sure he stays healthy!

Saturday night was Greg's birthday party, and it was a lot of fun. I ended up crashing there.
His actual birthday was yesterday, but he was still out when I left.

It's my grandma's birthday today, so I am going to give her a call.
I love her.
