I am outraged. This morning, on the way to work, I was listening to talk radio and the topic was how Tucson Unified School District was starting new race-based discipline... where if you're white you get a more severe punishment than a minority because minorities get into trouble more often... and we don't want to hurt their feelings.
That was just the topic. As with everything, I take it with a grain of salt... the kicker was the woman who called in to say her son had been SET ON FIRE by a minority student... and because her son tackled the minority kid who had SET HIM ON FIRE... the son was nearly kicked out of school. What happened to the minority student who lit the other student ON FIRE? NOTHING! ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! I couldn't believe it.
It has finally happened... it's the 1960's all over again, only reversed. I've been waiting for it to happen ever since affirmative action and other programs started up... and now, it is finally here. You know what is going to happen now. I can close my eyes and visualize some strange version of the world-- a world where one race can beat on another race just because of skin color... and because they're a "minority"... they can get away with it... because people don't want to hurt their feelings. Doesn't anyone else see this?
Punishment should fit the CRIME... not the skin color. If people want EQUAL rights, then they should measure it based off an arbitrary set of rules and consequences. IF YOU DO THIS, THEN THIS IS THE PUNISHMENT. I'm tired of the double standard. I'm tired of people using race or persecution or slavery as an excuse because those self-same people DON'T KNOW what they're talking about! If you want to talk persecution take a look around you... exactly WHO is being persecuted NOW? Minorities? HELLS NO! They have more perks for their skin color than a blowfish has spines. Just who do you think is being persecuted? Which race has less benefits than another race? Hmmm? I just hope the "majority" doesn't end up selling their soul as penance for something MY GENERATION DIDN'T EVEN DO!
You talk about the past... then REMEMBER THE PAST. LEARN FROM IT!! Don't use it as an excuse.
