Complete Randomness

I drove up to Safeway to get some bread and milk and saw the funniest thing. There was a shiny red sports car parked in front of the credit union next door that caught my attention. That in itself is far from funny, I know, but just wait. The car was nice-- nice enough that it caught my eye, and I'm not a car person at all. As I passed by, the door to the credit union swung open and someone stepped out onto the sidewalk. The very old man walked with a hunched back and a shuffling gait. I could see his mouth working in that characteristic grandpa manner that always reminds me of a cow chewing cud. Adding to the stereotype was the messy white hair and oxygen tank on wheels. Oh-- and an oversized and well-worn black short sleeved AC/DC t-shirt! I laughed so hard when I saw it. I had to do a double take to make sure I was seeing right. The old music lover stepped right up to that shiny red sports car and got inside. I would have thought it was your typical mid-life crisis, except this guy would have already gone through that around the 1950's. I guess it just goes to show you, you're never too old to live your dream. I wonder if he has a rockin' grandma who goes out cruising with him on the weekends...

I just saw the guy who played Pete in Stargate SG-1 on a Chili's commercial. I guess work is hard to come by after you've been dumped by Sam Carter.

I take my PLACE test tomorrow. My future depends on the results. I'd better pass it, is all I have to say. I need to be able to apply for an assistant principal position this summer or it'll have to be back to mom and dad's house for a year while I right my finances. Sheesh, this year has been rough on the pocket book. I have to believe, though, that things will work out for the best.

I'm watching the last episode of Stargate Atlantis while I type this (probably why the writing is so bad)... with quite a bit of sadness, but also excitement. I'm LOVING this episode! Lots of action and adventure, and I may have just had a small heart attack when Shephard-- uh, better not say anything spoilerish.

And I think this is where I can sound off on the end of Atlantis and the ushering in of Stargate Universe. People are angry. I don't know why. They're being very nasty to people who have entertained us for over a decade now. I say again--I don't know why. These people are setting out to create another show for us and all some fans can do is criticize every decision before the show is even here. The truth is, even if- and that's a big if- Atlantis was sacrificed for Universe, it's only because the creative juices were flowing in that direction. If the writers feel they can do their fans better service with a new show, then who am I to tell them they're wrong? Personally, I would have traded Atlantis for a few more seasons of SG-1 hands down. Did that make me shun all things Stargate? No way! I love anything Stargate and I will continue to love all things Stargate until the powers that be convince me otherwise.

That's enough randomness for one night, I think. I'm off to write a chapter in my new Stargate story. I can't think of a title for it. Right now, it's got the unfortunate stand-in title of "Carter gets whumped again." I don't think that'll fly. :0)
