AUTHOR'S NOTES: I kind of just found this on my hard drive. Originally started in August of 1999, right after AHR aired, back when I still hated Chiana. Realized about a year ago that all I really needed was the final paragraph... and failed to post it. So here, I post, SEVEN AND A HALF YEARS LATER.

At every single mention of a commerce planet, Chiana thought about going down with them next time and just disappearing into the crowd. Every single time. Yet she couldn't explain why she didn't do just that.

Really, it wasn't like anyone would miss her. And she wouldn't miss them, either. One way or another, she didn't care what happened to them. Just as long as she was nowhere near whenever one of the people they'd made mad caught up to them. If any of them thought they'd get away all those times, they were fools. It would happen sooner or later, no matter how good they thought they were. She spoke from experience. Although, all that aside, she might stand a better chance with them than she would on her own for now. No, she didn't need them. She could handle herself quite well, thank you very much. But as long as she was here with so many other people in more trouble than she was, it made things easier.

Or so she'd thought. That Crichton guy had told her there were rules to follow. He just hadn't told her what they were, or how many she was expected to follow. Not her style. At all. Not even close.

They could be fun to mess with, though. The Hynerian was the best. Rygel. He deserved what he got, and he could give it right back to her, too. The others weren't as easy. She knew better than to get on the Luxan's bad side, and she wasn't so sure about the Peacekeeper yet. Then again, if those two were able to get along with everyone on this ship, how dangerous could they be?

"Hey, Chiana."

She turned to the voice coming from the door of her quarters. "What?"

"We're headed down to the commerce planet now," Crichton said, leaning against the doorway. "You coming along or do you want to stay here?"

Okay, she did tend to feel bad about messing with this one. He was the first person on Moya to actually give a dren about her. She hadn't been able to believe how horrible she'd felt by not giving him a straight answer to whether or not she'd had anything to do with Salis' death. At that time it had just been a way to frell with his head. After all, it was none of his business, right? She hadn't expected that she'd want to be straight with him.

Not that it was going to get her to tell.

"Sure," Chiana said, crossing the room towards him. "After all this time locked up here, you gotta make your own fun, right?"

Crichton sighed. "No stealing," he said. "I mean it."

"What's the fun in that?" she said, shooting him a mischievous smile.

"I'm serious. If you're planning to use your five finger discount on anything, stay here. Rules, remember?"

Chiana had already learned not to speculate too much on things he said- five finger discount? She caught the gist of it and that was all she needed. "Do I at least get to take a transport down?" she asked.

"What, fly the thing down there?" he said, eyes widening.

"Yeah."

"No way in hell."

He wasn't giving her any leeway, was he? "You won't let me touch anything, you won't let me go near the transport," she griped, letting the smile fade. "What's the point?"

"Getting out of here for a few arns," Crichton said.

"Getting you all away from me for a few arns is even better," she shot back.

He simply shrugged. "Whatever floats your boat," he said. "See you in a while. And stay out of trouble."

Chiana shook her head. "I make no promises."

Crichton turned to go, closing the door behind him.

Good, at least they would be gone for a while. Gave her time to explore. That was hard to do with everyone following her around all the time. True, she didn't know who all was going to the planet, but she assumed it was a group excursion. And why not? They were a unit, right?

She hated coming into this like she had. Not that she really had a choice in the matter. But they all had their formed relationships already, and here she was, trying to figure everyone out singly and as a group. Like when that whole fake Earth thing happened. D'Argo and Aeryn and Rygel had been worried enough to check up on Crichton, right? At least that was her understanding of it. And then when he was dealing with it all afterwards, they were all there for him. How cute.

There wasn't a reason to think about it too hard, anyway. None of them were ever going to want to be there for her, even if she let them. She wouldn't be around long. She was just biding her time till she hopped off in the right place, on her own time.
