Summary: Jackson and Ashley were childhood sweethearts until Jackson Family moved away. Now they are all grown up and friends of Kellan Lutz. When Ashley happens upon Jackson in Beatiful People, Jackson and Ashley revisit their memories of their first love while Kellan tries to reunite these two.
“Wake up, Jackson. We are about to land,” said Mrs. Rathbone to wake her youngest child, Monroe, who was seven years old. His father was also Monroe, which is why his family called him by his middle name, Jackson. The family moved very often and this time they were moving to Jacksonville. It was their first time back to the US in about a year or so. Monroe didn’t like moving cause he would always have to leave the friends he just made. The Rathbones got off the plane, gathered their stuff, and hailed a cab to take them to their new house.
“You are going to love the new house, Jackson. It’s very quaint, close to school, lots of kids around to play with. I’m sure you’ll be happy with it,” Monroe’s mom was telling him.
“Yeah, a bunch of kids I’ll make friends with and then have to leave almost immediately,” Monroe shot back.
“Cheer up, you won’t have any fun if you act like that.”
“Yeah, Jackson,” Monroe’s sister, Ryann, chimed in, “You might get a nice girlfriend while we’re here.”
“Yuck!” Monroe replied, “Girls have cooties! I’m never having a girlfriend!!”
But, little did little Monroe know, Ryann’s words would be oddly prophetic.
A little while later the taxi pulled up at this one nice house. It was small but would hold 3 kids just fine. Next door, there is a boy and a girl playing with the sprinkler. They look like they’re having fun, Monroe thinks, I bet they get to stay here and keep the same friends for a long time unlike me.
“We’re here,” Mr. Rathbone said, “Everyone out kiddies!”
So, Mr. and Mrs. Rathbone, Monroe, and his two sisters, Ryann and Kelly, got out of the cab and unloaded their belongings from the trunk. While they were getting out, Monroe stole another glance at the boy and girl next door. He was surprised to find the girl staring at him also. All of a sudden, he felt sort of weird and smiled at the girl. Then for no apparent reason that he could come up with, he waved at her too. The girl waved back. She was beautiful he thought, with her brown hair and her happy smile as if he was a best friend instead of a stranger. He was shook out of his reverie when his dad started to move him toward the house. He began to think that as long as that girl was next door, how bad could Jacksonville be?
“Looks like wittle Jackson already has a girl here,” His other sister, Kelly, teased, “Do you know her name?”
“She’s not my girlfriend! I don’t even know who she is!” Monroe said, annoyed, “She has cooties anyhow! I don’t want to catch cooties.”
“You do know that there is no such thing as cooties,” Ryann joined the conversation.
“There isn’t? But I saw a boy who caught cooties and it didn’t look pretty. I don’t wanna catch what he caught, na-uh,” Monroe protested.
Just then, Mrs. Rathbone walked past and heard her children’s spat.
“Jackson, the boy you saw had chicken pox, and if you remember clearly, you had exactly what he had just a few weeks later,” she added.
“But, but, but”
“See, I told you, Jackson!! There is no such thing as cooties!” Ryann said triumphantly.
“Also, stop saying but because you’re starting to sound like a motorboat,” Kelly added
“But then why do all guys says that girls have cooties?” Monroe asked, curious
“I don’t know, guys are weird so I don’t attempt to understand them. All I know is that I’m a girl and I know for a fact that I don’t have cooties,” Kelly responded
Mr. Rathbone decided to step in at this point. “Cooties is just a rumor that gets passed down from generation to generation. Then you grow up and find out that girls don’t have cooties. It’s a real shock, I know, but that’s just the fact of the matter.”
“Huh. Now I feel like questioning a lot of other things I thought were true,” Monroe said.
“Come on, Jackson. Let’s go put your stuff in your new room, okay?” Said Mr. Rathbone to stall Monroe’s train of thought.
“Okay, dad. Why not.” Monroe said passively.
They went to his new bedroom which was already prepared for Monroe. While they were unpacking his stuff he decided to ask his dad what those weird feelings he felt were. His dad knew everything so why should he not know what he was feeling. He took a deep breath and then started to explain how he felt to his dad.
“Uh… Dad?”
“Yeah Jay?”
“Uh… When we got out of the taxi, I saw the two kids next door playing in the sprinkler, a boy and a girl. She looked over at us ‘cause I guess she wanted to see who was coming. Coincidentally, we locked eyes and were just staring at each other. She smiled and I also smiled for I don’t know what reason. I felt weird inside. Then, she waved at me and my arm acted of it’s own accord and waved back. I was wondering if you happened to know what that weird feeling was?”
“Well…”
Just then the doorbell rang.
Find out who's at the door and the what ashley's doing in the next Chapter. and I'm super lazy so it will probably take as long.
