About a man...

Beginners really is a fine film.  I enjoyed it when it first came out - I had lived in Atlanta for about a month and I braved the traffic into Midtown to see the one theater that was playing it opening weekend.  Mind you, I had refused to brave Atlanta traffic to see my best friend for YEARS.  But c'mon.  EWAN.

Anyhow, the movie gets better every time.  What might have seemed too precious in early viewings is now sweet, and Ewan is so, so, so, so, so, so good.  And so beautiful.  I think I've posted on this before.  I remember thinking at the first showing how it's a new kind of beauty -- he still radiates that boyish Ewan-ness, that particular innocence he has, but it's in an entirely different dimension than, say, Scarlet & Black.  Not less, not more, just different and every bit as dazzling.

(Full disclosure: I still groan when Melanie Laurent appears - her character grates.  Fix your fucking hair!!!)

Well, that's really all I had to say.  Ewan.  Beautiful.  *sigh*

PS:  I haven't forgotten about you, Mr. Boyle.  I owe you some words.  More on that later.  *soft protective growl*

beginners, film, ewan
