Summary: The Lady of the West talks about her husband.

"Lady Mother, what was Father like?" InuYasha asked one day.
How could she best describe that man? Their meeting had not been a chance encounter; indeed, they had been set to meet since the day they were born. The Lady smiled to herself at the memory. She had been small, about InuYasha's size. She made up for it in many ways. Or so she told herself. That's why, when she first met the taller child, she did her best to match him in any way she could.
She remembered his bemused look. He had been confident in himself, even back then. He met her challenges with eagerness. Sometimes he would praise her for her efforts and other times he would laugh at her failures. Though his laugh had irritated her at the time, looking back on it now, it was never mean-spirited.
Now she could say that she honestly missed it like most of those little sparks of his. The remnants of his laughter, anger, and joy were dimming little by little. The boy curled closer to her.
"I'm sorry. Did I make you sad?" his voice asked.
She felt her hand stroke his hair. "A little bit. But some memories of our marriage do that."
"Yeah. I feel that way when I think about my Momma."
"Did your father ever visit you?"
InuYasha paused and squeezed his eyes shut, as if to try to pull something out of his mind. "I think he did? I bet I was really small." The boy's eyes widened. "Oh! He did! He played peek-a-boo with me sometimes!"
The Lady smiled at the thought. For being such a tough general, he adored children. Sesshomaru was never one for games of that sort. Every time her husband had tried to play that way with their baby, he got bit.
"I'm glad that you have a memory like that."
"Lady Mother? Can I talk with you about Father again?"
"Of course."
