you remind me of the babe!

micaturtle and obsessive0514, I swear to god I am still writing your prompt fic. Just still caught up in some real life stuff at the moment and it's taking up a lot of my computer time. DON'T KILL ME. >_<

Yesterday was one of those unexpectedly awesome days, in which the kids in my class apparently had deemed it 'be nice to the teacher day.' A couple of my favorite kids came back from the beach and brought me a really large clam shell, apparently the biggest shell they'd managed to find there. Then I spent a lot of time making pipe cleaner animals with them and eventually had to make all of them a pipe cleaner and button turtle (or turtleduck), which is pretty easy, I think, for an adult to make, but the kids had a tough time making them. One of the kids drew me a picture of me in uniform with a looot of turtles. Cute.

After work, a couple of my friends and I went down to this bridge and down to the river to shoot a few pictures- my friend Patrick is a big photographer and he likes to find interesting places for shoots, and I just like exploring those interesting places. Both of us want to find some abandoned buildings to look around in, but there isn't much of that where we live. The best I've seen in person was a really fascinating abandoned hospital in Puerto Rico (seriously, abandoned hospitals are like a dream), but clearly my family wasn't as into the idea as I was.

The river was neatly eroding the banks so that it looked like stratified cliffs, and under the bridge there was a bunch of graffiti and other signs of urban inhabitants. I kept saying: "We should at least find a body here." Seriously, what good is going under a bridge on a highway if you can't even find a dead body? Instead, we just found a lost and forsaken road sign. Alas. Anyway, we went on that adventure, got stuff at Starbucks, and came back to watch The Labyrinth.

That movie. So much fun. My favorite is probably the MC Escher scene, with everyone walking and running in strange directions and different gravity. LIKE AN ACID TRIP. It's fun to rewatch and see how many pieces of Sara's room they fit into the landscape of the Labyrinth, too.

And this is just a pretty fun picture of earthbending Toph from ATLA and rock-calling Ludo from Labyrinth. Earth-users unite!

(Also, I like how you can go into just about any room of geeks and say: "You remind me of the babe," and someone will say: "What babe?" back. XD)

labyrinth, real life, avatar, awesome
