Soul Eater

So, I just finished reading the entirety of the Soul Eater manga on onemanga. It took me a full night of madness, but now that I have read everything, I must say that I LOVE THIS SHOOOW. The entire main cast is love. Maka is love cubed, and someday I am sure I will fangirl all over her mom. Who may or may not be Shibusen's answer to Carmen Sandiago. All of the squeeing and positivity I have heard about this manga is entirely accurate. Now I am on episode 9 of the anime, and going strong. (I hear the anime ends differently, which is as to be expected. I wonder why they don't bother to wait for a manga to complete before making an anime of it?)

For the people on my friendslist who have not heard of this or seen it, (I know only three,) this is yet another anime following the 'shinigami' theme, where people go out hunting for souls. In this one, it's got a Harry Potter-esque twist to it, as it's set in a school for these soul-hunters. They're placed in two person teams of a meister or technician, and a weapon. The weapons are humans who turn into weapons, which appears to be a genetic trait, and the meisters channel their soul energy through the weapons in order to defeat evil humans and witches. In order for their weapons to become a 'death scythe', the teams must collect ninety-nine human souls and the soul of one witch. (The weapons collect these souls by eating them, btw. They're described as being flavorless but having amazing texture, which reminds me of most Japanese 'delicacies' I've heard of.) It's a fun, quirky series with lots of amusing name puns and bizarre characters, but it can go dark and serious fairly easily. The show has some kind of fascination with madness and magic as well, with insanity being a recurring theme. At one point, the main team joins up to play a soul piano that sends anti-insanity soul music through the magical web of a spider-themed witch. Doesn't that sound awesome to you? DOESN'T IT?

I shall probably rant about a few other things later, once I can collect my thoughts.
