i live! (sort of)
wooo back to school. (i'm so over taking classes - someone give me a degree so i can get a fucking job.) in any case that means a lot of studying and not much sewing, which by extension means a lot less livejournal. i have several projects lined up for the next several months but i'm not sure i'm actually going to get around to them. they include:
-- a corset for my mom. it was supposed to be done for her birthday, but come hell or high water i intend to finish it. my goal for this quarter is merely to make a mockup, since i don't plan to go home the rest of the quarter so i can't fit it.
-- an edwardian corset to get some idea on how it is supposed to be constructed. it's basically the prototype for my planned ball gown for next year's costume college. also i am sad that i haven't made a corset in a really long time. tres sad.
-- *possibly* another steampunk dancing outfit for january. may need it, may not. i have a few ideas for what i want it to look like, but i'm also really into the idea of looking around thrift stores to start off of that and do as little construction work as possible. i don't anticipate that being plausible, but most of my thoughts on this skirt involve it springing fully formed from my head and not actually doing any work. henceforth i shall call it my athena skirt. but that of course brings up all sorts of new design ideas. @_@
-- my ball gown for next year's costume college. it's steampunk, it's spiders, it's corset-y! it's also still firmly in my head and involves all sorts of things i've never done before. i anticipate spending a very long time on this. hopefully i will finish it before i need it. o_O
i think that's all i have planned that is atually time sensitive or a priority. i want to hit up the army surplus store in santa monica again to continue fleshing out my basic steampunk costume and i'm about three quarters finished with a blouse for it.
i did in fact finish the circle skirt i was making, and i wore it to the concert, but the only picture i've found of myself was taken by my friend after the concert when i'm sweaty and gross. i know there are other pictures out there because i remember posing for at least one. :P i also sort of have a dress diary for it but i suspect i'll never get around to posting it. oh it also hedges on me finding a cable that will allow me to get the pictures from my phone to my computer. T_T
