What I just finished reading: Son, by Lois Lowry, the fourth (and final) book of 'The Giver Quartet'. I was rather disappointed; it does tie the first three books together, and it tidies up some loose ends, but there are way too many worldbuilding plotholes, pointless sub-plots, unexplained out-of-place mystical events, and, well, words. And the ending is basically AUTHOR'S MESSAGE hitting you on the head. Oh, well.
What I'm reading now: Still listening to Dave Cullen's Columbine. There's a bit of repetition that I zoned out on (the audio equivalent of skimming, I guess), but now I'm about halfway through and he's started the analysis of How and Why The Media Fucked Up, and my interest has re-perked. I think it's really important, in histories, to devote some thought to analysis. Otherwise it's just a recounting of what happened; WHY it happened is what makes it interesting.
I've also started The Wise Man's Fear, the sequel to The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. So far it's not annoying me as much as the first one did. But there are many, many, MANY pages to go.
What I'm reading next: I have Hild on hold (hee!) at the library, so as soon as I can get over to pick it up, I'm going to dive in.
In other media: B and I have watched Anna Karenina (2012) and ugh, two hours of my life I'll never get back. But last night we watched the first two episodes of Vikings and mostly enjoyed it a lot! Lagertha is freakin' awesome. (I recall that fandom went crazy for it for a while, and then abruptly soured on it, but don't spoil me, please.)
