I'm starting to enjoy the "simple" things in life now. Things like taking a slow cycle around Dresden, just taking in the sights and sounds or just sitting quietly by the river, or standing on the Augustus bridge at dusk and just watching the sun go down around the buildings and people around it. Company is always valued, but being alone is completely fine as well.
Over the past couple of weeks, I think I'm finally starting to understand why some people enjoy travelling by themselves. You decide what you want to do and there's no need to worry about anything else. Spend two hours sitting in a cafe to relax? That's cool. Spend four hours or thirty seconds in a museum? That's up to you as well. It's amazing. That's not to say I dislike travelling with other people, but I find that travelling with other people becomes less about discovering your destination but more about your companions itself. It's about forging deeper bonds (or if you're unlucky, destroying them) more than anything else. I don't have many solo weekends left, (what with the girlfriend coming over soon! :)), but with this last weekend, I think I'll spend it in Dresden and just go exploring.

One of my good friends in Dresden left today, and I'm actually genuinely sad to see her go. She was one of the first friends I made in Dresden and she really took the effort to help the non-german speaking asian kid feel right at home, and for that "I can no answer make, but thanks, and thanks".
My turn to leave in 25 days :((
