Today, I made my first ever aerial layout D. A layout D at neck level. Chasing down that deep shot, I knew I didn't have a chance as the shot was too well-placed, and it would curve right into the receiver's hands. But something clicked and I just made a bid for it. I only remember my hand reaching out and just tapping the disc right out of his hand, and then a really hard landing, and then lots of cheers.

I never was the best player in any team I played for, and I've attributed many losses to my poor performances. But today, I felt golden, like nothing could stop me. My breaks were on, my hucks were on. My skies were on, but that layout D. That was something else entirely. That made me so happy. I'm not sure how many people will understand the significance of this, and I know many people of my "generation" (i.e. the Rascals people) have done this many times already. But it's always been something I've been trying for, and to me, it's one of those things that differentiated a good player from a great player. I'm far from great, but at least now I know that I'm on my way.

ultimate, dresden
