Coworker's bday was yesterday. It's my other coworker's bday next week so Dr. L and co want to go to this fake Cuban restaurant on Sat. Ugh... (P.s. I call it fake Cuban because when we went there with my Cuban coworker Dr. L asked him if it was authentic after we ordered calamari as an appetizer...) Marna then got lunch for the office. I think the place is called Homemade Taqueria or something like that. Yeah... Not a fan of authentic / soft shelled tacos. Anyway, while we ate... I don't remember how it came up but Marna asked the cleaning lady 1. If she came across the border. Yes. Saying it was dangerous, etc. And it cost her 8k. Marna was shocked. But then she was like now it's like 13K! Vanessa said her Mom paid 10k each for 2 of her relatives to come over. Vanessa gave 1K of her own money to help. Yikes... I think it was Genesis? Her Mom is studying for the citizenship exam. Oh yeah, I guess that's how it came up. I know Dad came over already a citizen. I'm assuming he was fast tracked because he's a skilled worker / professional. I'm assuming Mom came on a J1 visa (?) / stayed with a work visa till she became a citizen in the 80s (?).
Tita Carmen called. They are arriving on the 27th. She then asked for Dad's death certificate. "Are we getting our money?" In the past 7500centfish has said she doesn't want to fight for it. And... I hope it never gets to that. But... Dad told us to make sure we get it. Providing for us was his love language... And as much as 7500centfish says she doesn't need it. I do.
Saw on Twitter. Our local Harmon's is closing. I wonder if anything will replace it. "Rite Aid"? Target? But yeah... I got the Aunts GCs for Christmas from there. Tita E hopes it is still open so she can use it. They announced BBnB was closing in the summer and it's still open, so...
