He called me Liz...

Fr. I is no longer my favorite priest!  HAHAHAHA!!!

Weird...  Maybe it's just priests prepping their homilies or something...  Because today's readings were essentially about vocations, the call of God.  Elijah throwing his cloak on Elisha.  Living by the Spirit and not the flesh.  Then Jesus saying "Follow me".  Fr. I's homily started with the quote, "I will follow you wherever you go."  He talked of it being hard to follow God's call, but He asks us to, 1.  Deny ourselves.  2.  Take up our cross and 3.  Follow him.  He then gave his vocation story...  😭  He said growing up, they'd have a priest come through every 3 to 6 years.  Never more.  At one point they had a priest who was energetic, very friendly, especially with the kids.  Many became altar boys...  Among them Fr. I.  Now...  After 6 years or so he was reassigned.  The new priest was stern, imposing, flashy with a custom made car, etc.  Completely disregarded the children.  Yet...  They continued to serve.  It was also tradition to visit the homebound on 1st Fridays.  So one day Little Fr. I (LOL!) was assigned to serve on his rounds and it was pretty routine.  Prayers, being asked to leave for confession, invited back in for the Eucharist, more prayers, perhaps anointing.  Move onto the next.  But then...  He said there was something different about the last house they went to that day.  He recalled going into the courtyard.  An elderly bedridden woman, no family, no companions.  Started the typical prayers, confession, communion.  He then said the priest did something he had never seen anyone do before.  He took a bucket of water, uncovered the woman's legs and began to clean and dress her wounds.  He gave her some money to keep under her pillow and some chocolate if she gets hungry...  He, Fr. I was chocked up as he said this.  He said...  At that moment he decided to be a priest.  That it might not be the action of that funloving energetic priest that inspires...  Of course I tear up.  I've said, "He's just the guy who held up the chalice."  But seriously...  Fr. I at this point has been that priest for me.  So yeah...  Am I leaning in one direction over the other?  I don't know...  But in a sense, I'm motivated.

I then did my #SundayMassTweet, well more my instagram and tagged Fr. I.  Thanking him for sharing.  He then said "Thank you Liz for attending."  Uh...  Why would I not attend???  And who is this Liz you speak of???  Ugh!

In other news...  "Matt Maher" was sitting behind me again!

After Mass went to the APPNY presidential ball.  Because of the 'rona, they assigned the outgoing president to be president for another term.  It was relatively empty.  There was a call to get the younger / absent doctors to be more active.  Mentioning they're...  I can't think of anything to say other than "about themselves" or "selfish", but that's not the words they used.  I dunno if that's true.  Like...  I went to a lecture about presenting to congress to make laws to help healthcare and I was getting the vibe they were more about society as a whole vs individual patients.  Like...  That didn't even come across when I was in school, nor come to mind.  So...  I don't really know.  Maybe because they're not tied to the Philippines as much as the US?

Good thing I brought sandals to wear while I was driving!  When we got there Mom's shoe broke so I gave her my sandals and I wore my #KylieShoes.

Cary Shields got fat!

7500centfish saw an actual Asian Asian Squatting on line at Jollybee!

BRB, watching this vid.  Ugh, maybe not.  It's too herky jerky.  I will watch after the live premiere.
