So Irish and I lost a lot when we had to move from California back to MN. It happens but with the wonders of the clouds. Almost 99% of our pictures and videos are in the cloud. The books, which are harder to lose since I am an avid reader, it was like losing a treasured possesion. Yet, lets be honest, with the internet, Kindle and tablets - all of them can be replaced. When we left, we left a box, of what I thought were pictures - it was a combination of pictures and some treasured books with a friend, who just sent them back to us.
In this package was a photo album that my mother gave me to give to my oldest daughter when she turned 18. This was before my mother and I became estranged. Another post for another day - lets just say, she was the personfication of evil and I did not realize how bad until I took my chair out of the circle.
Anyway we get the photo album and put it away without really looking at it. I mean it was for Leslie - mostly pictures of her growing up until 1st grade. A lot of the pictures I thought I had copies of. So it goes on a shelf and then is moved to Minnesota and back to California and never really looked at.
Well, I decided to go through the album because I thought Leslie would love it. These are pictures that had not been scanned into the cloud yet. Well, I am sure glad I went through the album. Because my mother, had a WHOLE section of pictures of me with my ex-boyfriend, the man I dated before I started dating Irish. This was not a good relationship and defintely not something that should have been a part of this album - especially since most of the pictures did NOT have Leslie or her sister in them. It was me and him. There was one or two of all our kids together. On the back of one of the pictures she put - the man your mom loves more than you. I wanted to vomit. I was so mad. Needless to say, I got all of those pictures out and got rid of them.
When I first saw this, I thought fuck - this is like she is reaching up from hell, finding an old wound that is almost healed and breaking it open, putting her fat finger in it stirring thing up and poruing some salt in for good measure.
I wasn't looking through the album for no other reason than to get the pictures together to have them scanned.
