today I went to visit my brother at the summer camp where he's working and living all summer - it was good. I'm proud of that kid, he's a good guy and a pleasant one. we went through spells where we were inseparable growing up, and I'm really terribly fond of him. miss having him around. he humors me and plays nintendo with me, which in my opinion is a good way to pass the summer.

we hiked up to a set of huge boulders they call shock rock, because the charge from the powerlines running overhead is so strong that you can pick it up just by lifting your arm for a few moments, and then you can shock someone by touching them. the view is incredible: you can see four different states on a clear day. later I wandered off a bit and caught a view of the valley as the sun was setting. I want to say something about the shocks of brilliant fuschia that streaked across the blues and yellows, but I can't be sure exactly what. it was a beautiful sunset and it made me feel some of the things the world made me feel so strongly for a while there. I wanted to call someone and share, but the words that my brain kept making can't be said anymore.

later on in the night I got sad, but I also think there's hope.

mikey, whimsy, alex, hope
