I mooched off the free lunches at Princeton the rest of the week after my presentations and my grad student took me for ice cream Friday (peanut butter swirl!) and I saw my first Lamborghini on the street in Princeton. Experiments can be a real flog when dust keeps getting into them and fouling them up. Hopefully they will start to behave better soon. Got paid last week, so that made my bank account much happier. I finally got to actual stuff in the lab this week. Basically, I made a lot of solutions of Nile red (uber-expensive organic dye) with various combinations of THF (tetrahydrafuran) and water and then mixed up some nanoparticles too when I added some polymer. The weekend down in Maryland with the family was fun. Lots and lots of food, namely, Peking duck, beef, lemon chicken, shrimp, string beans, and rice (alas though they were quite stingy with the rice). Mouth is now feeling pretty normal and I went shopping with Will yesterday and got some pretty clothes. Several brightly colored shirts, a cute mid-calf white linen skirt, and lime green squooshy adidas flip-flops (on sale :) ). So this first week off has been pretty uneventful. Eating (soft foods), sleeping (10-ish hours a day), and watching TV with various people (Diana and Will). Went to breakfast with Shara this morning and got chocolate chip pancakes and a cinnamon roll. Oh so good. A large fraction of the students are evacuating for Easter and I love it. Less people=less wait when doing anything that possible involves lines. Other things that make me happy are that I am feeling much better than yesterday when I felt like death and the fact that I get to see the Squishy in a few hours. Yay!
