Sorry I didn't use any lj cuts cause i'm an ass...read it all bitches..lmao...j/k....
This weekend in Chicago was AMAZING!!! Everything was stunning…I have seen skyscrapers before so don’t think I’m a country bumpkin who hasn’t seen anything beside a barn and trees…lol. Everything in Chicago is big; the food, the sights and the buildings. I couldn’t finish a meal the whole time...with the exception of the steaks that Marc cooked on the grill; I ate the hell out of that steak…lmao.
SO let’s start at the airport in Manchester first. After sleeping in a swank hotel room, lol, we made it to the airport on time for a change and check in was a breeze. I did discover that if you’re sneaky you can travel with herb in your make up case..lol… I was sat in the last row in the plane (back of the bus Missey) so the seat had no way to lean back, which was stinky and I was in the middle, but luckily Dean and Luke were really nice older men. It was fun, despite the unusual closeness. The landing, eh, I’ve had better but it was fun to see the thunderstorm clouds pluming into the sky during the trip. When I got off the plane I realized we Marc and I hadn’t discussed where to meet. There were payphones, so I hit him up and said he’s down in baggage claim. I went downstairs to get my luggage, looking around wondering where he is. Grabbed my luggage with no problem and started meandering down the corridor and I see him standing, cell phone in hand. He recognizes me, which is good, considering I picked him out quite easily and greeted me with a great hug. We went to the car and blasted to his place. Great driver I might add!! Loving the warm air, listening to some good tunes and enjoying the view of things I’d never seen we were suddenly at his place. I called Justin and let him know all is good. I met his fat cat Tequila who is a loud sweetheart and proceeded to get covered in cat fur, which I am so used to.
We ordered some pizza from a pizza place he loved to get some Chicago flavor called Taylor Street Pizza. Fantastic pizza, but being the wussy that I am, I could only finish one piece. The pizza itself weighed a ton!! After we ate, we hoped in the car and drove into the city. He brought me to Wrigley Field and Hi Tops where he used to d.j. and I paid $5 for a Heineken which I drank in like 2.2 I was soo thirsty..lol. I managed to fall on my face, which is just wikkid awesome. Right out front of Wrigley too. Yes, bleeding knee I was a trooper. Glad I brought some band-aids, gotta love that sixth sense huh girls?? He drove my bi sexual ass through Boys Town which was really cool. I only wish I had more time to explore. He brought me an eclectic little shop called The Abbey. Very cool store and I managed to avoid spending one dime, which is quite the feat.
Hoping back in the car we drive to the hotel to drop off my stuff. The hotel, is good, kinda run down and our is MUCH MUCH nicer, but it’s brand new too. They have a glass-encased elevator, which is the only cool thing in the hotel. Aww well $25 a night who can beat that?!?!
After changing and bandaging my self all up again, he brings me around through various burbs and then we head to dinner. He brings me to a great restaurant called Prairie Rock where I had the best brew that reminded me of Guinness. Quite the compliment I know!! The food of course was fantastic and I of course didn’t finish it. After dinner, we head back to his place and listen to tunes until 4 a.m. After listening to a hilarious comedian named Jim Norton, we crashed. I slept there that night, just way way too tired to drive back to the hotel.
After Marc showered, we hopped back into the car and went to my room so that I could do the same. Freshly showered and with new Band-Aids, we head out to hop on the L Train to the city for the day. Train ride was normal and I really enjoyed seeing all the different burbs and apartments. I saw something pretty cool, too. In the tunnel, there is a projected image on the wall of a specific part that has an advertisement for a car and it’s set up like a slide show so it looks like the car was driving down the tracks! It was really cool and I’m sure they paid a pretty penny for it too. There money is a waste though considering I don’t remember what type of car it was...lol...it may have been a Lexus or something.
When we got downtown, we walked around and saw the Sears Tower, Millennium Park, Michigan Avenue, Marshall Field’s Department Store, the Chicago Art Institute, The Chicago Symphony building, Chicago River, House of Blues, the building from Adventures in Babysitting (lol), Columbus Drive, the Theater District featuring the Chicago Theater and the Oriental Theater and a Picasso Statue in the midst of it all. Found out the Cubs won among the tour which is wikkid awesome, gotta love it when the home team wins when you’re in their home, plus Marc was happy so that makes it better!! Passing on the opportunity to see any more as to save up energy for the remainder of the trip, we hop back on the L around 5 back to the burbs. Thirsty and yet still super psyched, it starts to rain just in time for us to get to the car. We drive around and he shows me where he grew up and his schools; which by no surprise are HUGE!! He brings me to the ritzy area of town and we girls watch, which was awesome, gotta love having a mutual love of women!! We drive around into the burbs where he shows me the biggest gym I’d ever seen. I swear to you when I say this, it had a waterslide INSIDE not to mention the spa and other amenities. We also went to Adult World and I bought a new vibe and looked at the masses of porn. I found out there is A LOT of porn out there..lmao…
After that we went to the store and bought some steaks. Headed back to his place where he grilled some killer T-Bones with Montreal Seasoning and it was FANTABULOUS!! Like I said, it was the only thing I actually finished all weekend!! We watched the sox vs. sox game and watched the Red Sox win on his flat screen, which I loved. I went out onto his balcony after the game and could’ve sworn I saw some of the fireworks. While I watched the end of the game he showered and we headed back into the city since I really wanted to see it at night. It was stunning. I love the city at night. Even seeing Portland is cool so Chicago was ASTOUNDING. We grabbed a bottle wine and drove past White Castle, which cracked me up since I loved Harold and Khumar go to White Castle.
We went back to the hotel so I could shower again and get so fresh and so clean clean..lmao…drank some wine, watched some t.v. and just talked forever. It was so refreshing to have someone to talk to who talks back about life.
In the morning, I took a dip in the pool and we got some breakfast downstairs since it was free. Packed my shit and got dressed or some kind of order like that…lol…and then we headed back to his place. We went to Steak and Shake which is a fantastic place to get a milkshake. Got a Double Chocolate Peanutbutter shake and chicken finger salad that I, of course didn’t finish. It was really really good though!! After that we went to Woodfield Mall, which as usual is much bigger than the mall here. Went to a great candle store called Illuminations and to a store where I could buy a Chicago t-shirt cause that’s a necessity! We went into a really cool little French store called L'Occitane and it brought me back to gay Paris for a moment.
Back in the car and blast back to his apartment so he can burn some cd’s for me of the things I heard over the weekend which was so awesome (as I listen to AquaBats heheh).
Getting ready to go to the airport, I say goodbye to Tequila and head out. The trip to the airport was far too quick as usual when you’re getting ready to leave, time flies. He drops me off and gives me a warm and tight hug and kiss. I go through security in like 10 minutes with no problems. Got to my gate and sat there for them to tell me that the flight is delayed and the gate changed. To the other side of the airport I meander and we load into the plane. We all load in quickly when I realize that there is a mom and young girl sitting in the rows of seats next to me. I see the dad walk by and offer to switch my seat from 4C at the front to 17C in the back. Switching was the best idea I could’ve come up with. I went from sitting next to a kid and old people to a hot manager of Bed Bath and Beyond with a terrific sense of humor and sitting next to two married Red Sox guys who really enjoyed the fact that I picked up the latest issue of Stuff magazine (if you haven’t seen it, you’re missing out!) We chit chatted the whole way and exchanged info so that we could send each other pics we didn’t have and landed safely in Manchester.
And that’s all folks!!
