Things that happened:
- Regionals is here!
- Ryder finally snaps about the whole catfish thing and demands to know who it is. Marley fesses up, but it actually wasn't her. It was Unique. Ryder is mad and decides that he's not coming back to New Directions next year. Like that goes anywhere.
- Rachel does her final callback for Funny Girl - we don't really know if she impressed or not.
- Brittany is some kind of mathematical genius and has been offered early entrance to MIT. She goes a little bit over the rails about it all, but eventually we have to say goodbye to her.
- Blaine is looking for engagement rings. He meets someone called Liz, who is a lesbian and offers to give him some advice with her partner. She and Jan have dinner with Kurt and Blaine and Liz ends up proposing to Jan.
- They win Regionals. Yay.
- Will and Emma get married in a very fast and loose ceremony in the choir room.
- Season four is done!
Sporadic thoughts while watching:
1. I feel kind of bad for all the people who work super fucking hard to get into MIT.
2. Looking more like a classic Rachel in her audition there...
3. "You didn't even know where Kurt stood with this Adam guy!" Implication being that now he DOES know where Kurt stands, and it's looking pretty encouraging for Blaine. Did their special movie not work out then?
4. To be honest, I didn't even realise that Sugar and Joe were gone. Oops.
5. Aww, you can totally see Heather's baby bump.
6. Ryder is pretty fucking scary in that moment. "Nobody's going to admit for fear of being murdered..."
7. "Tell me about your man." Look at Tina's little eyeroll - exactly how many times has she been forced to listen to Blaine talk about Kurt?
8. "No! No, I mean, he wants to do me but we're just friends." "Don't!" "You do wanna do me!"
9. "Two sworn enemies who became friends then became enemies again then became friends then enemies, and then everybody stopped caring."
10. Honestly, literally everybody has forgotten about the identity of Sue's babydaddy at this point.
11. People say that Kurt is very distant in this scene, which is true, but I'm not quite sure why. It might just be in contrast to Blaine's openess, but Kurt is still very guarded, very closed off. He's still not quite at the point of being vulnerable. He's getting there though! Remember last episode? Which is pretty much the only thing that makes me accept the proposal.
12. "We broke up twice, got back together twice..." Look at the way Blaine looks at Kurt. 'See Kurt? They got back together. See, see?'
13. I feel the need to note the whole Ryder/Unique thing, but I don't even know what to say about it. I'm not sure whether or not it's problematic? Mostly I'm just glad the catfish storyline is done.
14. So they waste a whole bunch of time giving the Hoosierdaddies two whole songs, when the team didn't even get their own storyline. Fucksake.
15. Kurt is literally the only one that Brittany doesn't mention in her speech. :/ My guess is something like Kurt had his own little section of the speech like Artie (he's her favourite unicorn?) which ended up getting cut out. But it's still irritating that she never even says a word to Ryder or Jake and they get mentioned when Kurt, who had multiple storylines with her, didn't. And he was the only one. I am an offended fan.
16. But still it's sweet. She doesn't even need words for Santana.
17.The set list is actually ridiculous - Hall of Fame is good, All or Nothing is... alright..., but I Love It is ridiculous. Like, I get that the show is trying to be contemporary, but that song has absolutely no vocal prowess at all - and we're supposed to believe that it will impress the judges? Come on. Especially when the choreography is literally them strutting around the stage looking bored. Pshh.
18. Santana doesn't even need to turn around to know that Kurt is crying. <3
19. Kurt's graffiti vest is fucking awesome.
20. Fuck sake, they're finally married. It's been four seasons of this bullshit. Four!
21. Meanwhile, Blaine has been - what? Carrying around that box with him literally everwhere he goes?
22. All the things that they promised would happened in this episode did not. They promised us all or nothing, and we got nothing.
23. Goodbye, season four! You were okay, but had a pretty criminal lack of Kurt. However, we did get some good Blaine development, which is a plus. I'm looking forward to moving onto season five, which is actually really good on the whole, unlike the past two seasons.
