Down the Road From the Middle of Nowhere

Aka the Middle of Nowhere
Originally uploaded by inkognitohGlory, glory, glory, we had the sunshiniest day on Saturday and it was good. I lazed around for most of the day, soaking up the vitamin D and listening to the radio while getting to grips with the knitting. Eventually I got my act together and filled the water tank, emptied the loo and headed off up the River Lee Navigation which is actually a canalised tributary of the River Lea (see what they did there? If you spell it Lee you are on the Navigation and if you spell it Lea, you are on the river... apparently) towards Walthamstow.

I've hauled up short of Springfield Marina and am more or less moored in the middle of nowhere and am loving it. On the towpath I'm alongside the glorious Middlesex Filter Beds reserve and there is a large sports field on the opposite bank. There are buses running to just about everywhere from the nearest main street but it's a hop skip and a jump to reach the office from here. Some commutes are better than others but the tranquility and countryesque locale more than make up for any hassle. Plus I don't have to go through Zone 1 so the price of my weekly fare is slashed.

I frogged and restarted knitting my sweater about five times before I settled into my stride and knitted up the easy parts. I came to an abrupt hault after fifteen rows as the complex (for me) decreasing begins. I have had a poke around the interweb this morning and I think I've got it square in my brain what 'ssk k2tog' actually means in terms of what I'm doing with the needle and yarn. Desperately wanting to spend my lazy Sunday afternoon knitting as well, I quickly knocked up the sleeve section to the same point although I must also confess I frogged the first few rows of the sleeve about ten times.

I'm developing a false confidence with this knitting lark now and am already eyeing off other projects... god help us all.
