Day Two: Kludde

Jan 02, 2012 22:09

Not near as detailed as yesterday's, really didn't feel like spending all day on another piece so soon, but there's enough that it's more than just a sketch. Which is all I can ask for.

The creature is from Belgian folklore and take on many forms. Most commonly a black dog that chases after you on its' hind legs with a chain around its' neck and will kill you should it catch you. As a horse that will take you on a terrifying ride before dumping you in a pond or lake and laughing it's head off at you as you crawl out. It will also become a tree or bush to mess with your landmarks as you travel or to trip you. Other forms it can take include cats, frogs bats and apparently other animals too but I found no other specific references.

It's defining characteristic are dancing blue flames above it's head, which apparently are its' eyes in some way. As well as haunting/hunting/stalking traveler's roads for human prey. It gets its' name from when it chases after or successfully tricks someone it cries out "Kludde! Kludde!"

(any horse enthusiasts out there... I'm sorry I don't really draw equines all that much if at all and I know I got some things wrong)

Also, if any of you want to drop a prompt or request for me to do this month, feel free. Can't promise that it'll be done, but since this is a day to day thing for me to think of a subject to finishing it to post, I could use all the muse pokes I can get. At least today's fills another of my old mythology to draw list. Here if anyone is interested.
