Author’s Note: This is the art for annie46's spn_j2_bigbang Under a Spell, the second of three bigbang artsets I am doing this year! As the title suggests, this story has a spooky atmosphere that cloaks an intriguing mystery and I loved the sense of disorientation as we follow the Sam and Dean we know so well into this off-center world. I really hope my art captures that! These are some of the first photoshop manips I ever tried my hand at and I am so happy with how they turned out (I know they're not perfect, but they represent a huge step up from previous manips!). I really hope Annie is, too! She was delightful to work with and so encouraging...even though my email hated us and kept trying to keep us apart. XD My idea, aside from straight-forwardly illustrating some of the scenes, was to capture some of the details that make the story special: Patch, Dean's adorable doggo, obviously had to be there, since the town is so central to the mythology of the story I thought I'd bring it to life with a little piece of tourism in the form of a postcard, and more than anything, I wanted to do justice to the instant connection Sam and Dean have with each other even as "strangers." Since Sam is unable to speak and communicates by writing messages to Dean in a journal, I decided to use that to tie all the pieces together in the banner. I even hand drew the divider of Patch--the idea is that Sam maybe got bored at some point and doodled him. ^___^ This artset would have been nothing without marietwist who helped me pick out doodled dogs and is the only reason Sam and Dean aren't roughly the same size as the cabin. She is a miracle. ♥
Summary: Sam and Dean are hunting for twenty people who have gone missing in the same area in the last two years; none of them were ever found. No bodies, no clues. The only thing Sam has found is three trees in a perfect triangle with sigils painted on each one. When the Winchesters stumble on the sigils they are sucked into a totally different world.
All of a sudden Dean is Dean Campbell who has lived in Llepsarednu all of his life; (Llepsarednu is an odd town, there are no children, no one gets sick and everything is in its place). Dean is a mechanic with a lovely little cabin in the woods, a dog and an easy - if routine - life. One day he stumbles upon a tall stranger who appears to have no memory and can’t speak. Dean is instantly drawn to him and he takes him in and hides him from the townsfolk who are insanely suspicious of anyone who isn’t from their town.
It is now obvious that both Sam and Dean are under a spell; despite the fact that they appear to be strangers to each other they share a bond and, eventually, they fall for each other and become intimate.
What will happen if and when the brother's regain their memory and can they ever get back to just being 'brothers' again?
