Your name: Peter
Any nicknames: Nope.
Location: NYC
Age: 18 (almost 19)
Occupation: Student
Bands/Artists you enjoy: My first love is classic rock (beatles doors zeppelin dylan who stones etc...)..
Bloc Party, Interpol, Arcade Fire, Death From Above 1979, Tilly and the Wall, The Faint, Modest Mouse,
anything Ben Gibbard does.. etc... Also a few big name bands; Red Hot Chili Peppers, Coldplay,
Radiohead.
Movies you enjoy: Reqium for a dream, City of God, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Snatch, Das
Boot, Igby Goes Down, The United States of Leland, Memento, Almost Famous, Dazed and Confused,
Forrest Gump.
How do you keep informed about new music, movies, etc? Forums, Friends, IMDB.
You just opened your own music venue. Describe it (i.e. size, location, any other details): Small, but big
enough for a good show(hundred people maybe), NYC (preferably St. Marks. Its an area known for music
and it doesnt even have a venue anymore). The venue would be made in the style of a bar/lounge serving
not only alcohol but tea coffee etc... on off nights there would be poetry readings and small plays.
Everything would have to be original.
If you could book any band/artist for opening night, who would it be? Led Zeppelin (if that doesnt count
then.. Bloc Party)
Do you play any instruments? A little bit of guitar, not good at it at all.
If you could play any instrument, what would it be? Im gonna say guitar here too because I cant make my
own music.
Are you in a band? If so, who are your influences? No.
If not, imagine you are in a band. What would it sound like? My sound would be a blend of unique poetry
turned into rock n' roll. Not too hard, but not soft at all. There wouldnt be too much of any one thing. If
ive learned anything from classic rock its that a variety of different sounds is what makes a band great, not
the same old thing over and over and over...
What would be your ideal job? rock pioneer or director/screenplay writer.
Where's your favorite place(s) to shop? urban outfitters. vintage shops. Online.
Any hobbies? Hockey. Reading. Writing. Music. Film (making and watching).
Say something intelligent about 5 of the following 8 bands:
Drive Like Jehu- Categorized as an emo band, Drive Like Jehu take their emotions to a completely different
level. I know if I had a band and someone called my music emotional ide be thrilled. Wheres art without
emotion?
Joy Division- It's hard to call a band "punk" when you cant help and admire their talent and innovative
and unique approach to music like that of Joy Divisions.
Husker Du- Another great example of what a band can accomplish when theyre in the business for the
music, not the money. Not only did they play THEIR music on THEIR own time, they did it so well it
pretty much paved the way for the sound of the 90s.
Pavement- I guess much can be said about underground music in the 90's, especially when you have a
band like pavement being one of the best bands to emerge at the time. With Stephen Malkmus leading on
vocals its no wonder they became as big as they did.. in the small underground sense ;)
The Velvet Underground- Avant-garde. No doubt one of the greatest bands ever, and a prime example of
what a REAL band should be. They stayed true to their selves and to their music even when no major
labels or tv shows or anyone of the sort wanted anything to do with thier kinky-sexual revolution lyrics.
If you were to make a movie about your life, who would direct it? I would :)
Make a 10 song or less mix, with any theme you want.
1)The Beatles- In My Life
2)Tilly and the Wall- I Always Knew
3)Nirvana- Sliver
4)Styrofoam- Couches in Alleys
5)Pearl Jam- Last Kiss
6)The Cure- Pictures of You
7)Lynyrd Skynyrd- Simple man
8)Incubus- I Miss You
9)Death Cab For Cutie- What Sarah Said
10) 63 Crayons- Mice and Feathers
Why do you want to join this group? I love music and am drawn to the indie scene because of the
immense diversity amongst not only the many bands but each bands library. Love discussing music and
love hearing about new music and this seems like a great place for it.
Do you consider yourself indie, or pretentious? Odd question; probably a little of both haha. Not to any
extremes though. I like my music and dont really care who agree's or doesnt agree. It's nice to discuss it
though.
Photos. Of yourself. Three or so.
Any other images/photos/artwork that are meaningful to you.
im big on photography:
