Fic: Untitled (DS9 one-shot)

Feb 05, 2011 00:21

            Pain chases the air from Bashir’s lungs and he realizes, far too late for it to be of any use, that now he is in over his head.

~~~
Sometime between the whipping and the second drowning attempt, Bashir decides that he’s had better days. He can’t remember when, exactly, but he knows that they are there. They must be. It’s just that he ( Read more... )
I love you. Let's get that out of the way right now.
So I'm terrible. I've read "Wrong," and have yet to concrit it. Why is this so hard for me. -_-;;
This was the shit. Seriously. When the finger-breaking occurred, I was like "OOHHHHHHHH SHIT JULIAN!" I don't know I felt like that; you wrote the story (beautifully, might I add?) with a kind of uneasy air to it; like everything seems okay but it totally isn't.
and Bashir is telling him in turn to kindly fuck off, thank you very much.
I loved that. XD
And I probably don't need to tell you that I absolutely adored the fact that Julian is totally fucked at the end and will not survive. :) Aside from that, I liked hearing his thoughts... he was kind of like "oh, goddamnit. e.e" rather than waxing too much philosophical about his end.
Long-ass A/N: -Ok, so I lied: this is most definitely NOT a B/D fic. Sorry to be misleading, but I couldn’t help it ;). I’ll re-code it when/if I post a revised version.
Maybe you should keep it that way! XDDD
I am so, so glad you liked this! I did have your prompt in mind as well when I wrote it...poor Bashir! haha.
I was like "OOHHHHHHHH SHIT JULIAN!"
I was totally going for that! Good to know I was able to pull it off. That's why I'm not sure about re-coding it...I kind of like pulling the rug out from under people when I can. :D
I was a little (but only a little!) sad to have it actually be a L/Bashir fic, but only because I was having SO MUCH FUN writing a Data who's not quite as clueless as most people think he is and a Bashir who totally wants him NOW. An h/c post-"Descent" Data fic is something I've always wanted to see, actually.
omg Lore/Bashir torture.That's what I mean by expanding on the fic. I have all these torture scenes sitting on my computer, but I kind of like how it stands now. I'm conflicted. The scenes add a good bit of darkness (and Lore, of course) but then I read through the fic and kind of like it how it leaves everything to the reader's imagination. I also enjoy ambiguous endings, so while it seems like Bashir ( ... )
This was awesome and hot and FRUSTRATING!! XD
TBH I suspected it might not be Data, because I knew about that prompt and that it appealed to you. ;o) Nevertheless, I had the same reaction as PN when we got to the finger-breaking scene. Especially because up until that moment it really just seemed like a nice subtle seduction - in fact I almost started thinking "hey Data, taking some initiative, good for you!". ;o)
“No. I mean, yes, a bit, but it’s -” Bashir turns and realizes, no, this was the really bad move. If pressed back to front was Not Good, then chests to thighs to groins was Very Not Good. “ - not that bad,” he finishes weakly.
I loved that bit, the clever shuffling with the words 'good' and 'bad'. Nice.
I also liked it that you never state anywhere explicitly that Julian is attracted to Data. Apparently that is the case, but there is no flashback to their first meeting, Julian pondering that there was something sexy and special about him etc. etc. It's just a fact of the story that we have to take for granted.
He then ( ... )
I'm very sorry if this felt like a cop-out! I have ALWAYS loved authors who leave a good deal of the story implied or out altogether and then you have to piece together what you think might have happened over the missing periods of time(after a good deal of "wait - what? No! Don't leave it like that!" *cough*MaryRenault*cough*). That's partly what's going on here, and partly the fact that I was agonizing over the torture scenes and just wanted to post something to see if it was even worth all the trouble. I will definitely go back and re-work those and post them when I can. Also, it's not that Lore would have failed with attempting to drown Bashir; he wasn't ready to kill him yet, but drowning is such a lovely way to make the human struggle...
As for Garak and Bashir's conversation, that was partly my love for all things implied but mostly I left it like that because I can't friggin' write Garak! I can write snarky Garak, but Garak-the-spy absolutely eludes me. I tried for ages to get the dialogue to come together and have multiple ( ... )
he wasn't ready to kill him yetAh, I suspected as much. It's just that the word 'attempt' might make the wrong impression. ;o ( ... )
Hmmm...I'm pretty sure I read your D/B fic back when I first joined LJ and was going through all the Trek fic I could find. I shall have to go back and re-read it, though. I have found that reading other fics has helped me with character dialogue in the past, but for some reason Garak still remains impossible to write. I absolutely love him, but unfortunately he's going to have to take a backseat in my fics until I can figure out what to do with him!
I find actual torture...pretty hard to stomach
That's very interesting, because I am the exact opposite for the most part. I don't enjoy BDSM all that much, but reading torture isn't too much of an issue for me. I doubt I'll go into much detail in future versions of this fic, but it will be there. I do like how writing fanfic has allowed me to push my boundaries a little bit. Still having hangups on porn, but then again, I never thought I would write anything that even hinted at non-con...then a certain plot bunny came along ( ... )
