I am so, so glad you liked this! I did have your prompt in mind as well when I wrote it...poor Bashir! haha.

I was totally going for that! Good to know I was able to pull it off. That's why I'm not sure about re-coding it...I kind of like pulling the rug out from under people when I can. :D

I was a little (but only a little!) sad to have it actually be a L/Bashir fic, but only because I was having SO MUCH FUN writing a Data who's not quite as clueless as most people think he is and a Bashir who totally wants him NOW. An h/c post-"Descent" Data fic is something I've always wanted to see, actually.

That's what I mean by expanding on the fic. I have all these torture scenes sitting on my computer, but I kind of like how it stands now. I'm conflicted. The scenes add a good bit of darkness (and Lore, of course) but then I read through the fic and kind of like it how it leaves everything to the reader's imagination. I also enjoy ambiguous endings, so while it seems like Bashir is fucked, he might actually not be...you'll never know ;)

The torture scenes also add a bit of plot. So far I'm working under the assumption that all of these one-shots could work within the same universe and Lore's just going around the galaxy causing mayhem. Or what looks like mayhem. I've always wanted to know what drives his madness (apart from Daddy Issues) and I'm working with an idea that although he does shit basically because he's bored and he can, he is definitely working towards a larger goal.

I feel like he's up to something (or should be up to something) in canon, because he doesn't actually make an effort to seek Data out for six seasons and if he really hated his counterpart as much as it seemed, he would have made that move a lot sooner. So...basically I'm trying to construct exactly what L might have been up to and give him a semblance of purpose, and while he's carrying out his devious plan in various parts of the galaxy, he's finding lovely creatures to distract himself with.

er....didn't quite mean to get so off-topic there. Thank you so much for the response! It means a lot. I think I'll just leave this how it is and maybe post it to the comm once I can think of a title. But I'll get some of those torture scenes up as well so you can have a look :).
