what you see isn't always the truth

“Pass me … I mean - shit! Kick that damned ball over to me!” Junsu's teammate shouted from his left. They were playing soccer during their gym class, and the game was a tie, only a point left to decide which team would win. There was only a minute left.

Junsu, their class' - school's, to be exact - best soccer player, raised an eyebrow, not understanding what his classmate said. “What?” he mouthed as he dribbled the ball easily using his feet, making sure not to accidentally pass the ball to their rival team.

“Pass. Me. The. Ball!” the classmate shouted again, clearly this time, and Junsu nodded immediately in recognition. He passed the ball without flaws as if he was dancing and did his task without failing.

“Thanks!” the classmate shouted once more as he kicked the ball towards the net and scored the winning goal.

Junsu's team shouted once the thought that they won had sinked in their minds. They jumped and flailed their arms around the field, some patting the backs of the other team. The losing team, being a good sport, accepted their defeat and shook the hands of the former, wide smiles on their faces. But with all the happiness happening, there was one man, Junsu, whose mind was far away from the event and was staring at someone - Yoochun.

“Yoochun's with one of his trippings again,” he thought and sighed. Trippings was the term they used to call those relationships that were not taken seriously - you invite a person to be your girlfriend or boyfriend for no reason at all, or maybe … just to have fun and play; a fling to be exact.

Junsu sighed the nth time and looked back at his hyper team, jumping and shouting with all their might with their other classmates who lost. He smiled bitterly and took his things, not even thinking about changing his slightly wet tee and shorts or taking a bath even though he reeks of sweat. He laughed at himself, looking at his dirty shoes.

No one's going to notice it anyway.

“Hyung!” he heard Changmin's voice and looked up, his mouth curved into a slight, awkward smile.

“Hey,” he replied, walking to his best friend, bag slung at his right shoulder. He tilted his head a little to the right before pouting.

“Why are you here? Don't you have class?”

Changmin grinned before answering, “Our teacher dismissed us early today!”

He slung his left arm around Junsu's shoulders and lead the way before he started his complaints.

“It was really good timing since I wanted to meet you, and she could have killed me with boredom and her strictness at the same time! Gosh, hyung, I might be the ace of our class but whenever she talks in front of us I can't help but snicker at her. Well, it's not like I don't do that to others, but she's just so irritating,” he groaned.

Junsu chuckled at his friend's childish acts before looking at somewhere far away again, his companion's voice left unnoticed.

He gulped and rashly thought of an idea. Asking permission from Changmin, but not even bothering to hear his answer, he headed to where Park Yoochun was.

Junsu was hurrying before Yoochun left so that he wouldn't lose his chance. He ran faster than he was able to, and unconsciously, while skipping steps on the staircase leading to the third floor, he tripped on a bag (What the hell is this stupid bag doing here?) and scraped his knee. Being the weak guy he is, tears suddenly streamed down his cheeks while he sat there and he clutched his knees close to his chest. He bit his lips as he thought and contemplated on his idiocy. Why did this happen to him? All he wanted to do was to ask a favor from the man he admires. Fate doesn't really want him to be with Yoochun; maybe they really weren't meant to together. Wait, they don't even know each other - they weren't really destinied to begin with.

Junsu froze as he felt a warm hand touch his shivering shoulder.

“Are you okay?” a soothing voice asked.

Junsu hiccuped and rubbed the tear streaks on his cheeks using the back of his hand before turning around to face the stranger behind him. His eyes immediately widened and his heartbeat rose when he saw Yoochun slightly smiling at him.

“Y-yes. Why wouldn't I be?” Junsu stammered, answering Yoochun's question. He followed Yoochun with his eyes as the latter held his wrist and dragged him somewhere, and he unconsciously pouted.

“No, you're not okay,” Yoochun declared. “Your shorts are soaked with your blood … What normal being would be okay with blood soaking their clothes?”

“Uh … someone who murdered someone?” Junsu answered innocently. Yoochun laughed and looked at him with amused eyes.

“You're one cute fella,” he complimented, and Junsu couldn't help but blush and turn red like a ripe tomato.

Yoochun brought Junsu to the infirmary without any second thoughts. Once they entered, he asked Junsu to sit at one of the beds while he got the first aid kit, the latter complied.

“Yoochun sure is nice,” Junsu thought as he smiled wistfully. This is one of the reasons why he started liking the said man - even though the older had lots of fake relationships and was a player; he remained kind. Scrap that; he has never hurt the hearts of other people, he was nice, and that's all that matters … or so Junsu thinks.

“Here, let me help you with that.” Yoochun sat on a small tool in front of Junsu and started treating the younger's wound.

“You should take care of yourself more. What would happen if our soccer star gets injured?” Yoochun joked as he sent a wink at the younger's flushed face that wasn't left unnoticed; he smirked at this.

“Uh,” Junsu dragged as he scratched his nape with his right hand.

“Nothing?” Junsu bit his lower lip as he looked at Yoochun's face with excitement. The latter laughed once more.

“You're just too cute!” Yoochun exclaimed as he pinched Junsu's pink cheeks.

Junsu murmered a laugh then coughed to avoid awkwardness as he held his scraped knee. “Uhm … are you finished already?”

Junsu unconsciously pouted as Yoochun didn't reply but chose to stare at the younger with smiling eyes.

After a few minutes of pregnant silence, Yoochun chose to break it by saying, “Nope. I have a request,” he said in a serious voice, his face void of any playfulness he had earlier.

Junsu gulped before nodding slowly, his lips pursed in a straight line - a hobby of his whenever he is nervous.

“Want to have a relationship with me? You know, tripping?”

“What?”

~**~

“And you just freaking agreed?” Changmin shouted at Junsu's face as he learned about the news that the most popular student, Park Yoochun, had invited his best friend, Kim Junsu, to be his fling. It angered him, no doubt about it. Changmin never really liked this 'tripping fad' since it ever started! (They're all just playing with each others' emotions and hearts, for food's sake, he sighed.) Besides, Junsu really loves this Yoochun guy! He wouldn't want to see his best friend suffering.

Junsu nodded meekly, his cheeks tinted the shade of pink. Changmin, all the while, banged his head on his locker, regretting not being with the older at all times.

The younger flailed around while muttering incoherent curses. This is a really big problem. From what he has heard, Yoochun either asks someone to be one of his flings because he wants something or because he just wanted to play with them.

“Ahh!” Changmin groaned as he faced the confused Junsu. “Why did fate give me such a problematic friend?”

Changmin heaved a deep breath and sighed before stomping over to hug Junsu.

“Break up with him.”

“What?”

“No, I mean, just tell him that your 'yes' meant 'no'. Please, hyung. This is for your sake.”

Junsu pushed Changmin a bit to look at the latter's eyes but stayed in his embrace. “What do you mean for my sake? Don't you want my happiness?”

Changmin sighed as he slumped his shoulders. “I do, hyung. But haven't you heard the reasons on why that Park guy asks someone to be one of his trippings?”

Junsu blinked and tilted his head to the side. “I know,” he stammered, “but … so what?”

Junsu looked into his best friend's eyes with a confused expression. All these events were confusing him. Yoochun, the person he liked ever since ages ago, asked him into a relationship, but why was Changmin not allowing?

“I just don't want you to be hurt, hyung. I don't.” Changmin retorted as Junsu sighed in irritation.

Junsu swatted his best friend's arms away from his sides before turning around to walk away.

“Then don't stop me,” he replied in a cold manner.
