Ok so it is pretty late, or early however you look at it, and I should be going to bed, but I just read something that was really cool, and I wanted to share it before I forgot or got to busy and never put it on here.
I am reading the book Captivating by John & Stasi Eldredge and oh my is it good. It is the woman equivalent to Wild At Heart by John Eldredge. I would recommend Captivating to any woman, and any man that wanted to understand women better.
Anyways I was reading a chapter about how women desire to be romanced. Which is totally true, at least for me. This chapter mainly focuses on how we should allow God to romance us, because He is for real the only one that knows the true us and He can romance us greatly, specifically, and personally. I would like to share a couple of paragraphs with you that really touched me from this book.
"What were the things that romanced you heart as a girl? Was it horses in a field? Was it the fragrance of the air after a summer rain? Was it a favorite book like The Secret Garden? The first snow fall of winter (mine)? Those were all whispers from your Lover, notes sent to awaken your heart's longings..." (Captivating p. 115-116).
"Every song you love, every memory you cherish, every moment that has moved you to hold tears has been given to you from the One who has been pursuing you from your first breath in order to win your heart. God's version of flowers and chocolates and candlelight dinners comes in the form of sunsets and falling stars, moonlight on lakes and cricket symphonies; warm wind, swaying trees, lush gardens, and fierce devotion.
This romancing is immensely personal. It will be as if it has been scripted for your heart. He knows what takes your breath away, knows what makes your heart beat faster..." (p. 116).
How AWESOME is that?!? With a lover like that, it is sure going to make it harder on the guys, hehehe! No, really, although this is aimed towards ladies; guys the same goes for you! Fall in love with God, He is amazing, and just like the paragraph said He knows what your desires are and He will bring those to you in random times just to make you smile!
I know it isn't the same as a relationship with the opposite gender, trust me I still desire that as well, but no guy will be able to match up with my Lord. I have to remember this as much as anyone, but first we need to fall in love with God!
